in my other setup ms1 4efte i'm using a toyota paseo '92 inition four theeth, but it had a little problem. The inition reading was'nt that perfect,so what I did was install 36-1 FORD from Mustang V6 and now the timing reading is perfect.
What happend was that the 4 theeth inition on the paseo was'nt made for high rpm.
I tried mega squirt 1 and 2 and in mega squirt 2 the aceleration speed was more agresive.

I tried:
-2 steps

-barrometric correction
-shift light
-wide band correction
-flat shift
-boost control
-knoc sensor programable
-dual table

and now everything is working great .
Having everything that it has the price is really cheap and its woriking better than the micro tech .
The information that you get on the forum its really helpful.

Do you use 36-1 with the ms 2 or you run standard distirbutor double vr pick ups mate?

cos the pickup didnt work so well? you reckon standard ignition is not up to the job?
theres no racing computer working well, with ignition .
example.
halt tech , electromotive and sds computer comes with a kit with 36-1 or 60-2 ,it recomends in every racing car

Jerry from DIYAutoTune.com here. Noticed you guys were doing MS installs on your EP82's and EP91's and that you would like to be able to do a PNP system if you could We just recently released a new DIY oriented (kit based to keep it cheap and provide the project) PNP kit for a ton of cars, and based on the pinouts I've been able to dig up on these it looks like we've got you covered guys...

diypnp_n76.jpg

Based on these pinouts:

EP82 Pinout

EP91 Pinout

The DIYPNP EMS that you can use with either of these cars is the DIYPNPN76-K model (N76 connector) ...

Main Information Site and Video

Direct link to DIYPNP N76 Kit

The N76 Connector Details (You won't be using all the plugs on this connector, but it's a perfect match for the EP82 and EP91)

We'll be glad to help if you guys have questions, hit us up here or (better yet to make sure we don't miss anything) at websales@diyautotune.com. I just wanted to give you a heads up as I saw you guys were interested in PNP MS Systems but it didn't appear you'd seen this just yet. It's a pretty slick little setup that's loaded with features. Check that main info link above for the full feature list. I won't bog this thread down with it.

Seems we find our man here bro.
Personaly i have read the megamanual from cover to cover a lot of times (more than 2) and also visit msefi.com from time to time.
My personal problem is about controling ignition and how to. (how to conect, how to take the trigger signal, and general wiring and what code do i need to use/load.)
I am the kind of person who can follow schematics but schematics for our distirbutor and our double pick up dont seem to exist.
There are some guys with ms-i but not match of help because of the differences of the system.

I have a suggestion for you and your team if you really wan to help us.
How about take some close photos of our plugs distirbutor /coil/ignitor/injectors/sensors including original p/n and sent them to you and try to make us a wirring schematics about the way we need to follow to install ms-II?

I am sure if a schematic like this was already exist your sales would go up at least the sales coming for this forum.
From time to time many threads come up for megasquirting but people seems to give up because it is nt something ready to follow for our cars.

Also link you mention will be good for us to have.

Sorry for my poor english and the long post mate.!

P.s. Your rep points already goes up!!!!!!

Our tech guys will get out here when they catch up with Monday email madness, but I can help get you started in the right direction.

All of the basic stuff, power, ground, injectors, CLT, IAT, O2, and TPS sensors, are the same as any other engine in the world. The MegaManual covers this stuff in detail so I won't rehash it.

Your stumbling block is that ignition pickup. It's a Toyota ESA style system from what I can dig up. From what I can find the EP82 and EP91 cars are both single coil distributor based ignition systems. I'll need someone to confirm, but I strongly suspect you've got a CAS in the base of that distributor with two wheels inside of it, and three VR sensors. The Primary wheel has 24 teeth and a single sensor. The Secondary wheel has 1 tooth, but has two sensors that read the wheel, 180* opposed from each other.

We decode this ignition system with no problem, if we can read the signals clearly. And that has always been the biggest trouble. To understand why you have to look at the design of that CAS, and it really boils down to all three of those VR sensors share a common ground. That causes noise on ALL of the sensor outputs any time ANY of the sensors read a signal. The noise can be filtered, and obviously the Toyota OEM ECU did a good job at that, and more recently we've put some work into isolating this troublesome ignition pickup and filtering this noise as well allowing us to read it clearly. Note this is the same type of pickup used on countless other Toyota's and Mazda's. And a very similar system is used on Honda's as well.

To read this clearly with a standard MegaSquirt EMS (MS1 or MS2 based on a PCB v2.2, v3.0, or v3.57 board) I highly recommend the Zeal Daughterboard, this is a dual VR Conditioner board that was specifically designed to solve this issue with these ignition systems. It was designed and tested on RX7's which have been notoriously problematic and use the same CAS. Solves the problem every time. It's been tested on other similar vehicles too now and should work well on your EP's.

The DIYPNP on the other hand does not need the Zeal Daughterboard, this is a new product that was designed with these troublesome ignition systems in mind and we so far haven't had a problem with any vehicle that required additional conditioning.

So-- that said.

NE+ is your primary tach input. Goes to pin 24.

G1+ is your secondary tach input. Goes to wherever you've jumpered on your MS to bring that in.

Ground these sensors (G- VR Sensor Ground) at the ECU.
