I just brought a Megasquirt on ebay i intend to use it on my 5E turbo.

Need a bit of help with a base map
And tips from those who have removed the dizzy how to go about mounting the trigger wheel for a EDIS system?

An another thing how do I keep my Automatic? Is it really dependent on the ECU

good luck finding a base map mate i searched evry where the only bit of map is on a tread on the main mega diy site it gives u a few start up settings for the triggers etc etc / if u do find it let me know to

Cool.... Will take a look.....Thanks

So does anybody have any idea how this works with a automatic transmission. Can I delete the Toyota brain or should I keep it wired in?

Auto box has a separate gear box ecu that will picks up things like engine load ,change points, speed, emergency temp shutdown etc.
There were 2 different ways the ecu monitors engine speed , in early models vs later models I think if you would first work out which auto box you have and make sure you wire the speed signal appropriately.

Other thing to note re map is the auto box has more load at idle gear than a manual with the clutch disengaged so i think the ecu detects this and adds more timing at idle and temperature correction is also important here. There are a few signals for example NE that are switched at the gear shift that help the ecu with this. A test I have read is when you change gears from park to say drive the revs should be the about the same as the load is detected and balanced.

The other map difference I have seen posted show the stock Auto ecu using more pulled timing at ct9 positive boost than the manual ecu, around 2000rpm which is when timing adjustment is needed for the 3rd to OD gear change mentioned below.

That is the auto reduces timing more at at gear change points to smooth the load on the torque convertor. In my experience this seems particularly important when changing from third to overdrive ( approx 75 kph ) when boosting hard or accelerating hard.

Found this on another site...... hope it give you guys an idea of the work to get it installed

I have all the components now. Just to get the trigger wheel and sensor mounted.
I read somewhere that i could dump the coil pack and connect the EDIS directly to COPs. I could try that out as well since I have some spare coil packs laying around.

I was also told to the leave the ECU wired in an connected to the engine put to disconnect the injectors and ignition coils. this should allow it to shift the ECT tranny happily. So it should control everything else so the fan and the Idle stepper motor should work as normal. Spare outputs I can use for stuff like ACIS activation

Update.....I installed everything and used the base map 02emichan sent me and after i re-did some faulty wire mix ups with my sensor grounds...... it started first time and idles well.

The coil packs I wanted to use have internal logic so EDIS cant fire them. But looks like I can eventually dump EDIS module and once I am comfortable with my skills I can easily modify my board to use those coil packs since I wont need high power outputs to make fire.....

Good thing to cause I am just understanding that I cant really set a true rev limit with the EDIS module....I have to work with what ever OEM REV limit Ford put on the engine this module left factory with, some say 9000RPM others 9500RPM for the EDIS4.

The only thing I had big enough to fit those odd EDIS coil plugs..... The silicone ends of these wires made themselves fit.

Got a TD04HL-19T to install. Left it off the manifold and installed a plate so I could tune off boost without worrying about boost.

Got some RX7 460cc injectors, do these work well with these engines? Stock 295cc in there right now....but if I crank up the fuel pressure they would be rated over 330cc i believe

Should I set cams to 5E now? I could never get it to start on 5E marks on the 4EFTE brain.

can u send me on the map please

you can use them injectors alright dont be upping the pressure to much on the stock injectors just fit bigger 1s

just keep to 4e marks on the 5e in turbo mode

glad my map could help i have since got rid of the edis control and now using direct coil firing but still using the ford coil under waste spark seems to run a lot better for me im in the middle of wiring up a pwm idle valve for a smother idle as my idle is just on the butterfly atm :) and you can just run fuel cut for a rev limiter that will stop you over revving as i came across the same issue
