the map sensors fine, under the distibutor cap theres a bit of oil around that area and a little pool not far from that, not sure if this is old or not any ideas what that could be?

The little bit of oil is nothing to worry about.

Take one of the spark plugs out of the head and put it back into the lead. Remove the plug of the injector for all the cylinders. Touch the bent bit of the plug onto one of the bolts on the rocker cover and get someone to turn the car over. Repeat this for all plugs. If they all spark your leads are ok.

I think you may have contaminated the plugs. The same thing happened to me and I had to take put another set of plugs in, they were an old set. Once I got the car started I put the origonal plugs in and it started again.

It is strange it done the same thing a day later, but check the leads with this test to rule them and dizzy and coil pack out.

^^ done as above and all of them sparked

so does that rule out the coil pack, leads, spark plugs, distributor and rotor arm?

so im guessing if its not that

im likely to be looking at a fuel problem, tried getting the fuel filter off managed to get the top bolt off but i cant get the bottom one off it seems to me that it has ground down and i cant get a spanner on it

im going to try that then probably wake my way from the fuel pump upto the injectors

do you think this is the best idea? and any ideas of getting the bottom 14mm bolt off?

its a proper cunt mate to get off, best bet is to leave the top one on and just grip the bottom nut and swing on it (whilst holding the filter still). If its rounded off your gonna have to get the mole grips on it (make sure its as tight as possible) and swing on it again.

ok buddy will do, it has to be a fueling problem surely!!

either that or timing but i dont have a clue how to check that

i know its a really long shot but on a previous bmw the ring gear went on it and it wouldnt start although it would bump off it might be this but the car does start every now and again but just missfires and cuts out as soon as i take my foot off the accelerator so im guessing its not.

Right got the fuel filter off this morning, turnd it over on the ignition while the fuel filter was off and petrol gushed out so the fuel pump is ok so put that fuel filter on and pritty much the same thing just ticked over didnt seem like it was going to start,

the engine is just flooding itself you can smell petrol straight away more or less, there is no petrol leaks anyway im pritty sure of it

the only thing now is the injectors but to be honest i dont have a clue what im doing there and how to clean them etc...

iv take a picture of the sard rrfpr and does everything seem ok on that to you?

also taken a picture of the fueses under the steering wheel, the lower 4 have nothing in them and is there anything there that could stop the car from starting?

anyhelp at all would be much appreciated as im at the end of my teather now with it, what a great investmant and car purchase eh... :(

the more it goes on im just starting to think its something more serious, only had the car a week and not been able to drive it once, drove it home and thats it never started again, called the previous owner ( no si) and he's apparantly had no problems

guna see if i can get it taken to a garage and leave it to them the only thing that i can do now is to check the injectors but its over fueling anyway and a compression test knowing my luck there will probably be some major work involved, great start to a ep ownership eh

If it severly overfuelling and your pressure regulator is ok, look at the O2 sensor. If its disconnected the car will overfuel.

Also look at the water temp sender, the plug with 2 wires on it on the thermostat housing. It should read a high resistance when cold, about 6000 ohms.

These can both cause overfuelling.

As a long shot, check the ecu is for a manual and not an auto.

Cud u fig out what the problem was with ur car mate? I am having similar problems :homer:!

Checked the injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, ignitor, distributor, plug leads, etc etc.....all ok, bt the car wont start!! :( After cranking for numerous times, it starts randomly, but when i turn it off and try again, it wont start. Once it starts, everything seems ok. Engine response is ok.

My Glanza is totally stock...no mods to check on. ANy idea what cudve happened? Anyone....?? Pls help.

compression test coming tomorrow when i have charged my battery up

thanks tucka for coming round :)

are u sure the fpr is turned up way to far?

sounds like to me its just gushing in way to much fuel.

it will be some sort of sensor thats throwing off the signal
