you would defo need a panhard rod Elaine, as when the starlets are lowered the alignment goes out the window and gets pushed to one side. Defo reccomended.

Ok cool thanks for that as I said I was not really sure what to do about this :)

So what are the main differences between the helical and mechanical then mate? Is it just the clunking or are the mechanical higher maintenance?

Sorry for hijacking the thread slightly Elaine! I know you're trying to select the right one aswell lol so suppose it is relevant to you :p:)!

the mechanical has a harsher bite and is clunky i beleive.

helical is smoother and has no clunkiness i think

Polyurethane bushes. Now that your car is more rigid, the existing bushes will be working harder, poly bushes will make me car feel nice and tight and obviously much more resistant to splitting.

i'm not sure if poly bushes are available for starlets, but trd do a set of uprated bushes for them so worth looking into them

I was of the understanding that to change these is quite a big job??

What is the sort of cost of these as I am not 100% sure I know what they are….

you can get a roll cage that suits 5 seat starlets or get cages that go right were the rear seats are.
and i have every handling mod under the sun. apart from the x bar and 3 point zep bits but i do have a standard 3 point brace

I think a roll cage would bring to much attention to my car... I under stand there the best thing since slice bread but I have to think of the sort of image my car carries as well..

I use her everyday and where I work she gets enought looks as it is... I have put off putting in my new seats for this reason even though there are not Illegal I don’t feel that is give out the right image for me and the position that I hold..

If that make sence???

it's not overly expensive i know the lower arm bushes (front ones) are £32 roughly for the pair.

you dont need the lower arm rear bushes as these have been changed already cos of the anti lift kit.

i would say budget £100 for bushes roughly and then add labour.

there not hard to change there just labour intensive which is normally where most of the cost goes.

cos remembering the bushes have been in the for 15 odd years there gonna be bastards to get off. :)
