Overheating when on boost

Hi,

Took my mate up to get his new starlet and on the way back he noticed the temperature gauge rising when moderately boosting the turbo. What are common things to check for ?

The car has a front mount, unsure what turbo maybe a CT9 Hybrid - boost at 0.5 bar.
The oil could do with a change and possibly the coolant as well.

Any help appreciated, cheers.

any other issues? water use or the overflow bottle overflowing?
does the car overheat if you leave it running, but not moving? could be a thermostat issue, especially if you say the coolant looks manky.

No loss of fluids, we stopped at the side of the motorway when it happened. Had a good run before we got to the motorway, overtook a few cars and it was fine. Just when boosting a bit on the motorway the gauge started to rise.

When we were stopped it went back to normal temps pretty quick, no steam or signs of stress. Fan works fine and putting the heaters on helped.

bad gasoline or water pump needs to be changed...I would recomment to clean your water roads (from pipes to engines).Thermostat i assume you have checked?

2 10mm nuts and remove the thermostat housing. follow the bottom rad pipe up from the rad to the engine and you will find it.

I would flush the system while its all apart and drained. stick a new thermostat in there and see how I is from there.

Cool, cheers for all the help and suggestions. Took it out again this afternoon and it runs fine, just when booting it all the way up the gears the gauge moved slightly up but then immediately back down. Gonna get it serviced soon, he is doin loads of nightshifts atm so need to wait a week or so, should be fine till then under normal driving

air is blocked in the radiator and hose, had same issue last time, and solved it by adding water while the engine was running.

I have had temp rise above half when oil level drops bellow 80% full but not at lower boost levels so unless your boost gauge isn't reading correctly or oil is more than a tad low I would look to the cooling system for an answer as suggested. The front mount can pull the temps down well below half on the gauge in this case it would be proper for the gauge to rise up to normal position again when you stop low throttle cruising.
