Overheating???

On behalf of a mate here, running a paseo with FTE conversion.Recently when on boost its overheating. Its passing the water back through the expansion bottle, normal driving and idling for ages its fine.
The cooling system is 100% bleed, all pipes are hot,hot air through the vents and the fan cuts when it should, the coolant is good (changed a few months ago) the radiator aint leaking either.Ive also done a block test on it and the colour didnt change (testing on and off for a good 20 minutes). I know with a block test if it passed you wouldnt think the head gasket was gone but ive covered every other avenue ( i think).
I remember reading ages ago a few threads about peoples cars overheating and passing water the same way, just wondering if anyone has had the same trouble? Dont wanna change the headgasket just yet, incase it could be an easier fix :p

go for a hard boosteed drive, then do a sniff test. thats how i found out mine was a headgasket. it wouldnt show up on idle.

or go for a hard drive then open up the expansion tank and rev the car up to see iff bubbles come through while having the tube in it. thats another sign.

Im pretty sure its the headgasket myself, just wanted to see if there was anything else i wasnt thinking of. Started swapping bits about but still the same. Sniff test on a hard run might be a good shout though :)

mine did the same thing on my previous engine, was pretty convinced it was headgasket but when we opened it up a few weeks back the headgasket was fine.

weejohn had a theory about the water pump overpressurising the coolant at high revs therefore pushing water past the rad cap, impossible to prove tho.

i have a PASEO too
and paseo is less ventilated in air than starlet...the rad was bad with me ..it was leaking discretly and blocked sometimes...causing overheat....
take a look at the rad cap too...
but i dont know how much time your car was overheating cause sometimes it can kill the heaadgasket

overheating solution

Dude, the problem u r facing is overheating and water is coming back to expansion tank, u can carry out following things...

1. u can check thermostat if necessary change.
2. change ur radiator pressure cap, ensure there is no leaking through that.
3. check water pump may be that is not working properly.
4. just change the pressure cap and go for check...let me know..
5. if ur car hose pipe burst for any time then gasket leaking.

Thanks

Mine used to overheat when boosting or going uphill. changed radiator (was a bit blocked) and fan (had a bearing fucked but still was working)

all is fine now :) try the easiest things.. first thing i did was remove thermo but had no luck.. than noticed rad and fan.
