Rev counter not working!

My friends starlet the rev counter only works up to 3000 rpm and won't read over that but still revs up fine in genral! Anyone got any ideas we have changed the dizzy cap n rotar arm! Thanks

Just thought I'd bump this thread instead of making a new one as mine is doing the exact same thing, anyone got any ideas please.

could try pulling the needle out and cleaning it and putting it back in, dont push it in too far as it will stick as its doing now.

the needle is probably catching the clocks or screws holing in the dials, regularly happens when indiglow dials are fitted

defo dont do this or the clock will have to be re-calibrated

Clocks have never been apart so nothing catching the rev counter is moving free enough, it's like it's only revving to around Hal of the revs the engine is.
