rough idle.

hello i have a small problem with my car rough idle drives and pulls as it should but shakes a lot on idle dash bord and steering wheel shake like mad. serviced it plugs leads etc . any ideas ? i no there is a lot of things it could be but just wonderd if it was a comon fault. plus what plugs should i have in a near to standard engine as i no the ones in there r not what the book says. cheers.::homer:

Warm the engine up, short out terminals TE1 and E1 in the diagnostic port and adjust the idle screw on top of the throttle body until the RPM sit's at approx 800rpm. The idle speed should increase slightly when you remove the short from TE1 and E1.

If the idle doesn't feel any better it would be worth getting the ignition timing checked, timing should be set at 10° with terminals TE1 and E1 shorted.
