Same old posts?..

Just a quick one, ive noticed that there seem to be alot of threads are being started about things that have been talked about over an over e.g td04 conversions, forging etc.
and its flooding the page. i havnt really got a solution to it but just thought id bring it up as its quite annoying when your searching for one of the original threads.

there are loads mate.

seem to be times when you get people with the same or very similar problem as king the same questions almost every day. a few weeks back it was misfiring problems.

is really annoying as you just end up reading the same crap

Its for this reason we tell people to use the search button and re-direct them to already open threads.
It would be better if we could delete/close those types of threads but I would expect it to be monumental as just "TD04" throws up so many threads.

You could try refining your search aswell with some more specific wording in the mean time.

yeah i tend to search more than look throught the lists of posts lol, it seems to be alot of people just joining the site to ask about a problem an then dont bother coming back on again until they have another seems like they cant be bothered to look down the threads.

Yep,its been like that since I joined nearly 6 years ago on the old boards.It happens but once other members remind them of the search button (in a constructive way) or link them to another thread it should stop them from doing it the next time.

some people dont have as much knowledge on these forums, an the easiest way too find out is too ask. i am the same. i find the search button usefull but very hard too find some of the things that i want too know. an the only other option is too start a new thread.

if after using search it would bring up like an options page, where things like td04 turbos/manifolds or td04/standard internals stuff like that would be very helpfull.

an i know that would take the mods a very long tome an i wouldn expect them too .

Don't think the software allows it to be honest but im not up to scratch on the new Vbulletein.

But if you looking for posts with TD04 and standard internals just add standard internals rather than just TD04
With just TD04 you get 25 pages of threads where as if you add standard internals you get only 6. Im sure you could refine it even more

i wouldn have a cluem about software either lol. sorry i was just using that as a example as its in your name lol.

ive been on here a similar amount of time as you mate. i think it has got alot worse recently.

I think just at times it goes up and down,but I agree its at a high now. I remember for a long time the only question that was asked was how do i get 200bhp. I wouldnt mind the smoke one half as much as the gimme power one.

It'd be cool to have a symptom troubleshooter like the windows one,where answering one question leads onto another page etc.Im sure it could be done but to cover all of the area's it would take some time.

That trouble shooter idea would be great alright Dan but as you say would take a long time and probably wouldnt be feasible.

Maybe if it was just done for some of the more frequent questions it might work,ill have a look into it to see if its even possible

Yeah thats true. If it was something that could be added to etc by people if they wanted to do one themselves, sort of like the Wiki. Just another idea like.

i agree with all of yu here! lol, FAQ section would be awesome, members could submit useful info to mods and have it uploaded to the FAQ bit, maybe infrom every member when they sign up? give them a link in a pm and email to make sure they see it. might work??

Could we not just have I section. eg like Td04 we people can just ask about them and can have a look though if they got problems or get there advice with out the same threads Comein up because most new people don't use the search just ask do I new theat all the time but if they had that they could look there and if its not there then they can put a thread there wood that help or could not really do that

i have to admit im 50-50 when it comes to starting threads before or after looking but if you had maybe a top ten faq or a sticky like on how to use the search for newbies the idle control valve and high idle comes up alot to which i sufferd from lol
