the idea of the part is great, and the gains can be fantastic its just a total shame sam has put his name to a poorly machined part as if there was more attention paid this thread and all the others like it would never have existed and he would be selling one of the best parts for the starlet yet!

For the people that have sorted the timing mark out on these cams, any chance you could post a picture up of how it is wrong.

I only ask as i have a set that i did in a swap for my ARC top mount, however i have not fitted them now due to reading these threads. And I dont want to go through with fucking my engine up just to find out if mine are as toss as others.

So a picture would e great to compare good and shite ones.

Guys!
Any news on the cams from Sam!

Have you received it yet?

I wasted £180 on setting the speedvision cams and at the end i had to run standard cams! And then my turbo went while i was getting mapped!
When i arrived at the tuner shop took then a few days and weeks trying to work out why the car was running like shit!

My tuner's mechanic sad while looking at the cams that the pin was at the wrong place and the side that fits into the distributor is not right too?

Or maybe if the pin gets sorted it may fit correctly?

what you guys think?

i want a set of uprated cams for my new 5e build and these seemed promissing but i've been email sam asking if the problems have been resolved but i never get a reply :(

really don't want to have to pay the stupid amount for cruise cams

Totaly gutted for you barreta as your gt was so promising when it first whent to the tunners gutted for you mate :( have to say this has got to be one of the biggest fails of part yet. On a side note has anyone had issues with his springs? Or are they fine to use? I know they are based on the cruise spring but a tad harder so don't want to buy them and have them damage my rebuild :( and cruise ones are so expensive.

the company that rebuilt my head said the springs wouldnt work, some people have used them but i stuck with what thay said so i ended up using cruise springs. As for the cams they have been a total nightmare. ive last alot of money because of these cams and springs.

i'll hold out on seeing if this new batch is any better than the previous ones. don't think i'm gonna bother with the springs though, either buy cruise ones or because i'm not raising the redline just stick with standard ones, might have a bit more longevity if there not so hard.

@mr2turbored: id just start looking for cruise ones or get the oem's reground mate, at least you know they would be ok :)

Stock springs will take 7500 rpm without issues.
Unless your runninga hoooge turbo, then i doubt you would need more.

Just a thought guys, before spending silly money on springs.

yeah my thoughts exactly, mines as everyday car so don't want huge redline, don't really want more than stock so think i'll keep the stock springs, was just looking to get some better flow into the cylinders with the cams as i'm going Garrett GT turbo and 5e bottom end.
