Some of them when there imported are registered incorrectly but its your responsibility to ensure when your insuring the car, that you make sure its insured under a GT Turbo or you'll be done for having no insurance.

Most comes back as just a Toyota and there colour, i know mine is just a White Toyota.

Mine appears as just a White Toyota yes but my insurance have it insured under a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo because i informed them it was a 1.3 Turbo model. Which you would need to do :).

If you insure it as anything other than a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo, regardless of what it says on the websites or your V5 document, then you ate breaking the law and effectively have no insurance. If you can't afford the insurance then you can't afford the car.

If all the websites come up as something else then I suggest you pick up the phone and call companies instead.

I would insure it as a GT turbo but also sort out the issue if there is one with the v5 because you don't want any come back from the insurance companies.

If it's too expensive to insure then it's best to leave it because at the end of the day if you have an accident the insurance company will walk away

In my experience you should always insure by the car and not by the registration plate. On the two imports I have neither registration mark comes up with the correct one. The GT comes up a 98 Solida and the GT4 comes up as a GT Coupe.

Most online quotes will have the option for a Starlet GT Turbo now in any case, but if not drop them a bell direct and state what model the car is then drop them the reg out.

Double check when you get your papers through they have the right car on their to just to be sure otherwise your insurance is not worth the paper its writted on.
