seen an externally gated kit goin for good money brand new to suit a starlet any1 any experience with a garret t3?

asking as my oil seals are on there way out an i'm gonna spend £300-£400 on a hybrid anyway as i wouldn't put a 2nd hand ct9 in as it'll probly end up the same way and i'd rather go uprated than rebuild the turbo.

forgot to meantion will only be runnin 1bar

I'm not sure how these go on Starlets but I do know a few other chaps on here have a T3 running. My brother's RS Escort had a T3 turbo in there and it pulled very well.

I'm not sure what fiddling around you would have to do to get it to fit on there to replace the CT9 though.

all depends what trim T3 it is, this will determine whether the spool up time on your engine & everything else, but if you got this turbo I would run it at more than a bar to get in its efficiency range to make good power. cant really compare a T3 to a hybrid CT9 would be a totally different car, T3 will definetly make more power but will suffer from lag, CT9 will have better response, so depends what you want. & if you get the kit as you said im guessing it will probably only come with mani, downpipe, turbo water oil & feed lines, it wont come with any sort of management system (emanage standalone etc) & im not sure how well standard internals would cope on a T3.

you need to ask youself what kind of driving will you be doing most with the car and choose your turbo apon that and your power goal.

tith T3 there is heeps of variety in size where as a ct9 your bacily stuck with stock or hybrid which isnt much better.

if you want a high HP 300hp + set up a t3 t4 of the correct spec will do the job, dont buy a cheep Chinese one however as they are rubbish for various reasons

if you want an all rounder i would go for A 60 TRIM front housing and a .30 or .36 turbine housing. this wil give you a compromise between spool time and power. high 200 off HP is achievable with this turbo (at the fly)

there is so many options with a t3 or even t2 series turbo that you can customize bacisly any turbo to do that you want to achieve without much extra customization.
