Tappets???

i forged my bottom end about 1600 miles ago and the tappets are still quite loud, is there something iv missed out as its pissing me off now.

When i start it from cold its loud but does go quiet when warm, however if you give it some slight revs its quite tappety.

i need help on this as its really annoying me.

Did you put a bolt through the intake cam gears to keep the tension on before you removed it

The forged pistons are tappety when cold as they expand with heat, hence why they get quieter. Every forged engine ive heard sounds like this.

yeah all tensioned.

If this is what all forged engines sound like then im very disapointed.

i know about the pistons, but this sounds like top end tappets

Not all forged engines sound it.

Did you tension it correctly?

how do you mean mate? the holes were lined up when i put the belt on etc, is there another way of doing it?

Have you check the clearances on your valve shims with a feeler blade?
