TEIN Repairs ?

Hi, it looks like one of my rear TEIN super streets is leaking oil, after about 3/4 years, any one had one repaired by TEIN UK before?

Read a few bad things but just want to check the forum for feedback. Going to speak to them on Monday.

Anyone else had this happen, and had coilovers repaired etc?

let me know how you get on with this mate. if i remember correctly it was yourself who suggested the place to get these from so mine must be of a similar age to yours now!!!

how many miles have your covered since you fitted them?

Tein are based about 15mins from me and they are spot on! Not had mine repaired but they couldn't be anymore helpful!

I think they have covered about 68,000 miles, got them in May 2008. One of the rears looks soaked so guessing its leaking.

Still handles ok for now.

Coilovers seem to have gone up in price, all look to be about £650+

I have them on the hardest setting on the back, and my concrete lane is pretty bumpy/textured, so that's probably not been kind to them since I moved.

Got a reply today:

"As every situation is different, and we inspect the damper before
we quote, I can only give you some idea.

Used dampers in average condition, suffering leaks usually have
overhaul price of between GBP200-250.00 + vat per damper.

Without having inspected yours, I cannot say whether or not,
yours will fall into this category.

Lead time for work to be completed is around 3-4 weeks.

Please be aware though, it is not every case where a damper can
be overhauled.

Dampers with excessive rust, or shell case damage are such
examples.

My best suggestion is that if you are considering an overhaul,
please send us the units in question for inspection.

A form is attached for you to complete and return with the
damper."

I have seen worse damper repair bills trust me! TEIN are a premium brand and they have always charged this sort of money for rebuilds tbh.

Very Good suspension though!

looks like they gone down in price, when tein was new to the uk they were charging £300+vat per shock,

i'm pretty certain they have outlandish prices to prevent people sending there dampers back, it makes more sense for them to just sell new units instead of repair old ones.

the other thing is the refurb side of things is mainly for there racing devisions where people have custom dampers made etc that are much more costly than off the shelf stuff
