The Levin. :(

What is going on with my luck with cars lately? First my Glanza cracks a piston and now my Levin has been written off. I'm absolutely gutted.

For those interested I was driving the other day, on a duel carriage way in the right hand lane. I came to a round about which I intended to go straight over. There was a lorry next to me in the left hand lane and as I was exiting the round about (exiting onto the right hand lane of the duel carriage way) the lorry hit my passenger rear quarter. The resulting loss of control saw me all over the road, curbing the hell out of the passenger side wheels before coming to a stop. The lorry was not indicating right by the way and was in the lane to go either left or straight over the round about.

I got a call from my insurance company today and although the car doesn't look too bad (2 smashed alloys and a bit of a dent) the car is a write off due to suspension damage, the accident repair centre are quoting 3k to fix it! I'm heart broken, only had it about 6 weeks and had to borrow 3k from my folks to buy it. :(

So now I'm carless (they won't provide a courtesy car), in debt to my folks and generally pissed off.

Anyway rant over, just thought I'd vent and let you guys know my Levin is dead. :(

oh and to top it off, the insurance company are saying it'll probably be a join liability claim so i can kiss my ncb goodbye. RAAAAGEEE!

Yeah it all went through the insurance companies, exchanged details there and then. The car is currently at the accident repair centre. Just waiting to hear back from the insurance company now, see what they offer. Its insured for 3.5k and i've only had it about 6 weeks so it should be somewhere close hopefully.

Has anyone on here ever put in a claim for whiplash, me and my girlfriend are both still sore from the accident and I've still got a headache, do I go through the insurance company for that?

yer i put a claim in for whiplash dude - get yourself offf to a+e asap

i cannot stress how this is the most important thing that you can do as the rest of your claim will be based on this medical record

then ring up keeble hawson solicitors in doncaster 01302366831 and ask to speak to steve robinson and tell him Edward Hale told you to ring and go from there ;)

I'm in the RAF mate, already been to our med centre so there is documented evidence of my injuries. The Mrs still hasn't got a doc's appointment though.

mate if your are going too claim for whiplash, i would go too your solicitor and get him too get you an appointment with a back and neck specialist, also get a report from a physio, all this will help in your claim and of course once you have you reports done get yourselves fixed up, although the pain my go away over time, doesn't mean the injury does, and im gutted too hear about your car.

who are you insured with? do you have legal cover etc? with regards to a settlement figure they will offer you the market rate of the vehicle, not necessarily what you say its worth when u take out the insurance, this is a really bad loophole in the insurance industry, you could insure it for say £6k and when they payout they will say its worth £3k, but if you say its valued at like £1k thats probably what they will pay you out :( i know as i work for an accident management company working for alot of insurers! maybe if you let me know who your with i may be able to help you dude.

When my Sera was written off, they valued it at £2,750. i gathered together a fat ol' wad of recipts and email exchanges for all the stuff I'd bought for it, as well as examples of similar cars advertised at higher prices, they revised the value up to £4,250. Still not quite accurate, but much better.

I trust you plan on buying the car back and fixing the wheels and suspension yourself?

doctors right away and then solicitor!! he was in the wrong, don't accept any blame.
also when with the doctor tell him every litle detail of how you're feeling.
i'm sure it stops you from sleeping and you're nervous to be in a car now ;)
tell the doc everything, as said above, any claim will be based on his report.

I was toying with the idea but the accident repair centre estimated it at 3k to repair. I don't have 3k to spend. My Dad is mates with a guy that fixes up damage repairables though so I'm gonna speak to him and see what he says. I'd love to get it back on the road, it just might not be an option financially.

I couldn't fix it myself, I'd still need a garage to do it, it might be mates rates if I can get it in my dad's mates garage but they I'll need to supply an unknown ammount of suspension parts. I don't think it'd be a case of dropping new shocks and springs in either, it cold be wishbones and more structural sort of parts that would be difficult and pricey to source.

remember also if the insurance write it off, and you decide to repair it yourself, then your retaining the car which means in some circumstances depending on the catergory of salvage (write off) your car may be subject too a vosa inspection to confirm its roadworthy again. also bear in mind dude if you fix it and ever decide to sell it on then your car will have a black mark against it and will depreciate it quite substantially. if it was me i would try and come to some sort of deal with the insurance, sometimes its more hassle to try and fix something that has gone beyong the point of repair mate :(

It's not beyond repair though, it's beyond economic repair. The 2 are completely different.
