Hey all,

Just have a question, i bought a Fiesta 1.2 to use as a daily runner. To be honest the insurance company want rediculas premiums for the insurance and really want to get rid of the car now.

The problem i am now facing is that the Tax runs out this month but i have no insurance, how would i actually go about getting hold of some tax so that it can stay on the road side ?

somehow i fear i will need to insure the car just to get tax and then cancell the policy but i really dont want to do that as the deposit it not a small ammount.

Let me know if you have come accross this ?

Regards
Dane

Know it sounds daft, but can you not insure it for say a week? I know there is some insurance companies that will insure you for a day on a car etc - Or would that be illegal in some way shape or form. :)

unless you know someone with a traders policy that is insured on any car, they will be able to get you the tax

Dont you need tax AND insurance just to have it on the road? Pretty sure you do. You cant tow a car without tax,mot and insurance so i'd assume its the same for just being parked on the street.

insuring it for a day wont matter they wont give you tax unless youve got say a months insurance left or so. i dont think its as much as a month but it certainly aint a week anyway

You can try and do it online, but the vehicle must be shown on the MID insurance database that the DVLA check, or it won't work. Basically, if it isn't insured, you won't be able to tax it. Full stop.

Dont you just love this country being so full of bollocks.

I think i am going to have a nightmare of a time registering and taxing my other starlet becuase of this bullshit.

Depends where you go to, some post offices are more up themselves then others. My local one has refused to tax a car of mine before with my parents motor traders policy! I was forced to buy temp ins, went to anther branch (local one isnt open sat) and they told me if id come to them they would have taxed it on the motor traders!
