A member of the site is potentially offering me a P/X for the GT with a Rev3 Mr2 Tubby.

So... owners out there, tell me, what're they like?

Fuel?

Running costs?

Common Faults?

Rust spots?

Rattles that you can't cure?

I've had a drive of my mates Rev3 G-Limited import. They're supposed to have 179bhp or so, it went well to be fair. What really got me was just how well the thing handled. It is, by far, the best handling car I've driven. The turbo's are bonkers fast too, even in standard trim.

I've actually just been looking on Pistonheads at MR2's, I'm quite tempted to get a bog standard Uk Rev 3 NA/Turbo. :)

nned an account at toyota for rear 1/4s sideways all the time, and its more diffucult to control as weight of engine drags it all the way round

I do wonder why people keep saying that. You have to drive like a complete moron to lose an MR2, even the turbo ones.

Proper use of the throttle keeps it well in check, and the midship layout does the rest for you.

i'd love one, insurance isnt that bad either. its trying to fuel the brute which is putting em off + alot more of the engine work requires the removal of the engine.

class cars though.

Thanks for the input, guys :)

I don't think this particular example is for me, but it's set the ball rolling in that direction.

My best friend bought a brand new N/A in 1993 and still has it!!

Spot on, and it's only had to have 1 new engine, which Toyota replaced :p

Exactly my point.

X2

Great performance and value for money its a Flawless drive,The punch from the turbo when you drop gears is whiplash territory,
mid engine rear wheel drive allows supercar comparison, but i would still say that stories of MR2's spinning out are over exaggerated, the tail kicks out now and again but it would soon get back in line and it all adds to the pleaseure of driving one.Great car, easy to modify (dump valve, performance exhaust) with aftermarket parts easy to find. Most owners are having problems with their suspensions mine is very very bouncy roun twn which hv pot holes :haha:.Main thing is to drive on decent tyres.

ive owned one.
Loved it. All the bollocks about losing it etc.....if you cant drive then yes you may well write it off....only 2 reasons i sold it were, 1. it drank too much petrol and 2. wasnt sideways enough for my liking.

Amazing handling cars in standard form, brilliant performance and very comfortable.
I say go for it definately.

The Caldina Gt-t has the 3rd generation 3sgte engine and it has 255-260 hp and 325 nm torque most were tiptronics but they also came out in 5 speed manual the manual ones had an lsd where the tiptronic ones came out with vehicle stability control the only auto ones are the gt which have the beams 3sge engine just like the altezza and celica ss2
