turbo or mani gone *pop*?

hello everyone,

yesterday my car started acting a bit funny.

the first i noticed was when i was driving along and hit boost, i heard this weard squeek.... now i read before that this points at being the manifold being cracked.

i investigated the problem, and found that i do not have as much power as i used to..and the boost gauge is only reaching 0.4-0.5 bars of boost.

so what do you think is broken?
oh i am running basically standard btw.

did you fit that autobahn mani that you had? Does the exhaust note sound louder?

I'd deffo say manifold if you are hearing sooty and sweep in your bay lol! I believe you will also loose power when a crack appears in the mani as you said!

yeah sounds like manifold cracked, if it was turbo it wouldnt boost at all

Forgot to say, before you take heat shield off etc to look at mani, check and make sure the intercooler to turbo bolts are tight, I once had them come loose and it was causing a tiny leak which made a horrible high pitched noise and I lost some boost!

Almost certainly the manifold mate Only a few other things that can give those symptoms

defo manifold as you are gettin boost if it was a pipe leak am sure the pipe would have blown off by then

no i ddnt fit the autobahn mani.. after some reviews i went off them.

yeah, a loss of power, and a hig pitched squeek o well...

do i hear a hybrid? hehehe
