There is no 'correct' way round with the water lines buddy, you can connect them either way round as the flow of coolant will sort itself out.

I understand what your saying, but in over the year ive run the TD04 ive never run water lines, and never had a problem with the turbo.
As far as im aware, the oil does the most of the cooling.

I geuss its one of those things, that people decide they want water cooling or just oil.

Rory :)

yep rory is correct. ive also run many turbos without water cooling. the water cooling is mainly to prevent the oil getting coaked up in the turbo, but you gotta do some big mileage and not change oil reguluarly for that to happen. the oil soaks the majority of the heat away.

however water cooling is vital on roller bearing turbo's.

manerfactures started running water cooled turbo's so your average joe won't necessarily kill them as they casually pull off the motorway into the service stations and shut the engine off 30 odd seconds after they been on boost for a solid hour ... no big deal running without if you look after your turbo and let it cool down after some boosting. :)

yeah it just started becoming standard on most cars after a certain year. as obviously theres alot of people who buy a car and not know what a turbo is, hence them not knowing they should let it cool down before switching off after a hard run, so the water is just there for extra safety and durability for those peeps who change their oil overy 20k :haha:
