Go Pro's are probably the best around right now.
Pretty expensive, but defiantly worth it if you have the cash.

My son has the Drift camera, it works well and is handy with the screen, its even hit the deck once in a skatepark and survived so its worth looking at for sure. His has not much internal memory is the only thing, but it can be used as a hand held as well. I have a Go Pro HD and the pictures are excellent with it, the battery lasts for ages and its brilliant outside as well as inside. Its failing is its lack of a screen, you can get one that clips on but it adds more cost and they are not cheap to start off with.

If you know anyone going to the states get them to get you one there, I got the motorsports edition with the suction mount, other stick on mounts, extra battery and all the leads you need for $300 last July, bet they have came down more now as there is a newer model out.

Just buy a Samsung S3 and get free apps for it. Full hd video, gps/glonass lock, accurate speed, g force, etc

Not as good as special cameras but cheap and mobile -)

You get an extra case that either does or does not have slots in it for inside/outside use (cant remember what way round that is). You also get a few more sticky backing pads which are excellent and a suction mount that is like a fecking limpit! I use that mount to attach the camera to the fog light on Spuddys Starlet on a drag run, never moved for 3 runs and he was doing over 120mph.
