hello guys, i parked one of my completely standard ep82's up and the headgasket was fine, oil was black so i changed it, i fitted a td04 kit (and other bolt on stuff), turn it on and immediately and its throwing water into the oil and theres loads of water from exhaust, lots of water..... is this a known problem with blown td04's or has my headgasket magically blown in situate lol i haven't plumbed intercooler yet also... opinions would be much appriciated...

the head gaskets can go anytime. my mini did it, stopped at petrol station, filled up, jumped back in2 motor and it was making a funny noise, did a compression test and gasket had gone.

Is the turbo both water and oil cooled?

Reason I ask is that I fitted a hybrid CT9 once that ended up being a oil/water mixer... messy!

Manufacturer hadn't sealed the oil and water chambers from each other.

like rwdrev said your head gasket can just go, ive known a few cars that have been sat a while to have there head gasket go, although id do a compression test for the sake of buying a gauge for £20 if you dont already have one. tbf if i hadnt read Jay's post i wouldnt have been able to think of anything else, but what he says makes sense and probably more likley if you are using a water and oil cool turbo . either way, hope its an easy fix mate.

Could always just flush the systems (this will be incredibly messy if my own experience was anything to go by) then remove the water connections to the turbo you have. It means the turbo will only be oil cooled but that shouldn't be a problem TBH. I ended up doing this with the hybrid I had just to spite it. After all the hassle I was making sure I got the bastard boosting!

If the turbo is cracked/rusted through then it will do that.
Do a pressure test using your mouth and a bit of common sense :)
