What colour should coolant be?

Also use distilled water preferabably. Particuarly if you're not using any coolant. Toyota 4life should be red and it's the only coolant toyota recommend for your cars.

Coolant - an ignored component of the 4EFTE engine bay...

From experience you should use the Toyota ForLife premixed coolant. It is 'aftershock' red and should not be mixed with other types of coolant. Change it every few years to prevent the corrosion and associated problems that these engines are prone to.

A healthy cooling system is the key to a healthy engine.

well my car was serviced at a toyota garage 4-5 months ago lol

Well little one, that means nothing. Services vary in detail and unless it was requested at the time the dealer will probably not have touched it bar checking the level.

You mention it was a brown colour yes? That shit could eventually kill your turbo and your engine. Everyone seems to overlook maintenance these days...

thats one thing im adamant about. service items have to be spot on. my coolant is as clean as new stuff, oil is always done. i make sure everything is spot on and all fluids etc are spot on and nothing leaks etc.
would rather spend a weekend clearing the coolant system out that fitting a fmic and hks actuator for example

also best way to flush is you remove as many pipes as you can, as well as the coolant drain in the block itself and then flush it from every hole, oh er missus!

flush the rad from as many directions as you can, preferrably off the car. also clean out the coolant bottle and refil with fresh.

do this a couple of times if its bad and it should be pretty decent then

anti frezze/boil is more of a lubracnt for your water pump/system then anything. if your worryed about it eating out your system just make it a 30% mix instead of 70% (i do 50 50 myself) coolent is coolent all the same stuff

I think I can claim the best coolant colour of ev4r.

When it's not being spat out over the wing/floor, I use the Halfords Advanced coolant, which is bright orange (And I mean radioactive/flourescent bright). I'll have to get a pic for you lot to see, it's awesome stuff. Protects boilover up to 130 deg C and from freezing down to -50.

Stick that in your pipes and, umm, pump it :p
