A 1bar starlet on a ct9 is going to be no more than 180bhp realistically and personally I can't see a 180bhp starlet 'killing' an ep3 - mate of mine had an ek9 (fairly modded to be fair) and that was not much slower than my 195bhp stripped Glanza.

i guess these are just different experiences between ourselves, but statistics do show that a stock GT would be of a similar speed to an EP3 civic type R and when it came down to actually putting the 2 to the test it came to make alot of sense...

They have 166bhp per tonne as appose to a GT having around 157bhp per tonne...

fairly similar there too. there isnt going to be alot in it whatever the case and can easily be compared on straight line performance.

Do you not agree?

I agree in my expireance the starlet has if off the line being more torque but than as you hit about 60 the type r's fly past.

Yea i agree the figures are similar and should be a fair race but you need to take into account that the civic is going to be maybe 5years old whereas the starlet is 10-15years old and is unlikely to be kicking out a clean 157bhp per tonne....

oh you have got a good point there bud but there are a few out there that are running how they should from stock, mine definitely being one of them and that is what my argument is about. Stock on stock both running how they were desighned to from factory.....

I believe the EK9 is lighter and has 176bhp per tonne and with mods like you say your mate had then its going to be a pretty fast car with a good power to weight ratio so i can see why you wernt beating him that much. taking into account a glanza is 60KG heavier then a GT too so put all these things into consideration makes sense :)

here we go... to say a starlet will shame a CTR is rediculous. My advice would be to take your car down the QTR mile and see what times you get or check our qtr mile section for other peoples times - then check their members car thread to see what modifications they have made. Talk of "what cars have you beaten" is pretty much rubbish as there are probably reliant robins out there that could waste a stock GT...

Ive beaten a few things to keep me happy.
Ive spent enough to beat most things around, and there are other things that kill me.

Personal experiances, are what is needed.

Dylan, I think hes basically asking to get a rough guideline to what a stock GT is comparable to other stock cars, not highly modified cars.

I see what your saying though as you wouldn't really know whats tuned at the strip or whats standard... Thinking hes worded the post wrong.

from my experience a 180bhp starlet would definately kill an ep3. i had around 10 races with an ep3 type r and a clio cup trophy and i was running around 150bhp and we were all dead even every time, whoever got the best start won by a small margin. with another 30bhp it would have been no contest.

Seen a few ek9's down Meremere a few times they are really rare in nz and they were doing low to mid 15's down the quarter mile with a average launch on a dry track in summer at the 4 and rotary nats back in January this year. I have beaten a few cars which are more powerful than mine before
