what is this under passenger seat?

I was cleaning my car today and looked under the passenger seat and seen these 2 black boxes stuck to my floor. the lids can come off and they are full of wires etc. the switches say stuff like demo car, low, med, high.

and there is a heap of yellow and white wires coming out of them.
the car has a remote key on my keychain but it has never worked even though it still has battery. could this be something to do with an aftermarket alarm?
