whistling noise?

ported the turbo last week and since then there has been a loud whistling noise coming from the engine every time the revs go above 2000rpm. It seems to be coming from the rocker cover, I thought it was the oil breather causing a problem but it isnt. there is a crack in the manifold, could that be causing this?

any help would be greatly appreciated because its doing my nut in!

cheers.

did tou remove the turbo?

if so did you change the gasket if not you have probably got a leak as you should always change the gasket after removing.

yeah i did remove the turbo, taken it off before though and didnt have any problems. thought it might be the manifold because its a pretty big crack.

Make sure you have tightened the pipes back up mate as i presume u removed the turbo?

sounds like a boost leak

well i would imagine that it is going to be one of those things if i were you i woud order the gasket from toyota and change it they are not expensive best to do the cheapest first. then if it still does it then its more than likely going to be the mani

From what i understand a cracked manifold wouldnt make a whistling sound, however im sure someone who has had a cracked manifold can shed some light mate.
If i am wrong, then i stand corrected

in your case i would bet on a warped flange or a fubbard gasket, having a leak then when the heat gets to the mani its expanding and closing the gap

the guy who started this thread i had the same after removing my turbo to port the wastegate and im still getting it. its blowing at the ottom of the mani at the turbo flange and its cos the back left hand side nut isnt tightned properly i think thus leaking gas, its getting fixed 2morro and renewing the gasket to be sure

a lot of manifolds are slightley different to the standard manifold ie the turbo flange being a bit higher so it lifts the turbo ,decat and exhaust up a bit and your exhaust could be rattling off something underneath. have a wee look around your flexi pipe
