There's also a lot of shit stand alones out there, when I say good I mean something like motec that is proven and tested by some of the worlds fastest cars, none of this dastek stuff which I would rate near emanage....

this where it gets dark for the most i think personally.

it is tempting to get a standalone ECU from the "cheaper" range.
mostly there will be gone for the "options" instead of the specs.

maby it is a good point to made some main points up.

it still be true that a good standalone ecu isn't cheap as i have posted in one of my previous posts
as i read this i can see 2 sides who are trowing arguments for there point(ECU)

as i look to the points
JAM/Mines etc
+cheap
+easy to fit
-made for a specific setup
-non adjustable

standalone
+could be used in every setup
+adjustable fuel/load/boost map
+extra nice options(datalogging,ALS,lauche controle ex.)
-expensive
-mostly a new wiring loom
-specialist needed for mapping
- new sensoren needed sometimes

as i look to my future standalone with these qusetions in mind;
- how much did your unit cost (the retail price in case u got a freebee or business/friend discount?
- how long did it take to install and wire in?
- how much did all the extra sensors cost? (approximate retail prices)
- how much time was spent by the tuner---initially setting up the maps, etc
- how much would/did it cost to tune your set up (retail price in case u got a freebee or business/friend discount)?
- how many times did u have o go back to have the maps fine tuned?

i have to drop my car at the tuner for 14days
they have to make a new wiring loom and a Trigger wheel
will work with almost all sensors, only a new 3bar map sensor
the car will be tuned on the road(not on de rollers)
total costs €3000,- complete
as fas as i can get back
ECU MD35...................€1050,-
UEGO DISPLAY..............500,-
Map-sensor 400 kPa......€120,-
Idle-control kit...............€60,-
Wiring loom 4 cylinder...€350,-
total in ECU parts.........€2080,-
that leaves €920,- for 10days of work

Well with the vast amount of motoring video's I have and the amount of well known Japanese tuners running incredibly quick times and pushing massive HP figures of 600hp plus using the Apexi Power FC, if its good enough for them its good enough for me and I dont even take the car to such limits like they do.

I am using one of the most complete packages of HKS to be honest.
It includes:

-HKS Fcon ep82 with harness
-HKS GCC for fine tuning
-HKS IPM for the injector pulse monitoring
-HKS pressure sensor
-HKS FCD
-HKS SLD

in combination with

- HKS EVC 3 electronic boost controller

And engine monitored by

-HKS CAMP engine comp monitoring system
-HKS CAMP junction box with
-HKS CAMP EGT sensor

And it works very good and I don't have any complaints about it.
each map can be adjusted and monitored.

ps. HKS Fcon package will be for sale soon !!

The MINE's car is using is VX-ROM, and we know how fast that is.

I'd be interested in the CAMP. I've loved those units from the first time I ever saw one.

Ultimate Skyline in my eyes, love it!

The MCR car has the same HP power figure more or less thou and uses the Apexi. However the response and torque of the MINE's car just cant be beaten!

for anyone interested, i put the tape just incase the sunlight buggered up the chip:

from the outside they are identical apart from the stickers. i also noticed on the JAM ecu the corners had been filed a bit for some reason?

just havin a read through the thread and noticed this
apparently the tape is on the ecu so its not to be opened and tampered with...
static from your hands can damage the chip
just so you all know never open them
