3rd gear tops ??

can it be that 3rd gear could actually see you to 180 lets say ,
but stock or slightly modded dont have enough power to get u there ?

111mph in third no way! more power will only get you to the maximum speed that gear can give you quicker. the only way you could get more out of that gear is to maybe raise your limiter:freddy:

Redline (7200) in 3rd gear running 195/50/15 tires will result in 160.5km/h on a C52 (EP82) and 151 km/h with a C56 (EP91)

4th gear in an EP91 will see 204km/h and EP82 will do 217 km/h. Both share the same 5th gear ratio and top out at 257km/h.

Top speed in any given gear has nothing (at all) to do with how much boost you're running until resistance overcomes available torque, not likely to occur in 3rd or even 4th even with a near standard setup. I have personally tested to rev limit in every gear with a GPS logging, those figures are accurate.

thanks for the input mate ,
i was testing mine without gps , it went past 100mph in 3rd on the dials , but thats a different story with gps for sure , i reckon the max is 160kmh on gps then .

I hit the limiter once in 3rd at around 100mph on my clocks which are quite accurate.

Don't glanzas have a slightly higher limit though or have i made that up

Oh and I seriously doubt any starlet speedo is worth much of a damn over 100km/h, there has been some pretty wild variation between cars I've tested with my 5hz GPS, two near identical Glanza's read 10km/h different, stock cluster with identical sized tires. Don't trust your dials.

JDM speedo's are damn near useless on high powered cars anyway, 180km/h comes up pretty quick and keeps on pulling past the stops before you even get into top gear!

Yours does because you have the JAM ECU so that raises it to 8250rpm, have the same in my car:drive:
Im pretty sure also that I got more than 160KMPH out of my car in 3rd. My car still reads in KM and I got round about 170-180 in third but could be wrong

If indeed your rev limit is 8250 then you should be tapping out 3rd at 181km/h according to the same maths.

I used to see 160kph at the top of 3rd when i had the standard gt gearbox but then i put a glanza box in it n now only get about 145kph. It's because the ratio is different for glanza due to it's extra weight
