4agze supercharged engine

Hi guys, I have an EP82 with a 4AGZE, and I can tell you it's not an easy, cheap conversion. For one, space is so tight, it'd be nearly impossible to fit that motor with the supercharger in place, and then clearance on the sides is so small that to change the alternator belt, I have to drop the engine by about 5", and move it over just to get the belt off the pulleys....

That said, the formula is perfect, my Starlet weighs in at 720Kg, and makes stupid power out of the turboed 4AGZE.
A few notes on this conversion: no power steering pump...No Space! No air-con...No Space! I had to fit a remote mount oil filter, because of the positioning of the turbo / headers, not enough space to leave the oilfilter in the standard location.

I'll get some pics to post up, we're just finishing off a rebuild, the motor will now handle up to 3 bar of boost, thanks to some custom pistons, two banks of injectors, 4" straight through exhaust, new custom intake plenum, T3/T4 turbo, Turbonetics Evolution wastegate, front-mount cooler, and a few other bits.

If I could fit a stock 4A-GZE in The Bitch for a reasonable amount of money, I would. Supercharger whine FTmotherfuckingW!

Ok guys, my baby is home:rockon: Just gave her a wash after she stood outside for a little over a year, in up to 40 deg C summer sun, so the paint job is pretty much ruined:mad: I'm also having a bit of a hard time getting the engine management sorted, mapping this thing is a nightmare...

But, she's running, so now it's just a bit of tender loving care, and all will be well... I'm planning on changing to a different management system as soon as funds allow, there's a new system called Spitronics available here, I want to give it a try.

I'll get some preliminary pics this weekend, but be warned, she's still looking a bit rough around the edges. I'm not too keen on tidying up the wiring just yet, as I'll rip it all out to fit the new management in a few weeks.

just woundering how good the 4agze supercharged engine if there strong ,and are they easy to put into starlets at all, and if so would the 80 starlets or the 90 starlet be the best for the mod,,,any input would be great...

One of the strongest engines..
My friend made 638hp on dyno at 2,4 bar boost with a T70 turbo, still stock pistons and rods ...

Or go for 20v, then you wont even need to buy cams og do headwork to reach 500 hp..
This is my friends Ep70 running 20v and 520 hp...

sooooo,

i know in this thread it's about putting a 4agze in a starlet, but

if i were to go out and buy a levin, could i turbo charge it and not have to do anything to the engine, except add enginemanagement and turbo and intercooler?

Yup, that's about it. A decent exhaust would make sense, but the internals are more than strong enough, the gearbox is pretty good (and has LSD), just can't remember how much space there is between the engine and radiator, it may be a tight fit.

Depends on which 4AGE is in it. The GZE are prepped for forced induction and can be turbocharged without issue. The older AE86 4AGE can be lightly turbocharged due to their bottom end internals are based on the GZE. The 20v versions have very high CRs 10.5 for the "ae101 silvertop" and 11:1 for the "ae111 blacktop". These are not boost friendly. Of those two the "silvertop" is still the best for boost, while the "blacktop" has no forced induction base, it requires a more professional set up for long term turbocharging.

....a friend of mine is doing this conversion....

and got stuck at the wiring...cant seem to find the diagram or ECU pinout anywhere.

its a AE92 4AGZE MAF (i think this is the second series with the 8.0:1 CR)

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
