Well story so far, car cut out last night and would not start. This morning i took out one of the HT leads and connected it to an old spark plug and lent it against the rocker cover to test to see if it sparked. Well as i cranked the car it did spark, but the engine also started even though one of the HT leads was not connected to the spark plug i the engine. So i put every thing back together and started the engine and waited for it to warm up and then took i tfor adrive around the block, it felt s if it was struugling to run and then when i put my foot down a a little bit more and it cut out..

Any suggestions, rep wlll be added

The King lead isint maybe loose and not securely fastened ? It might have come loose and when you hit a slight bump in the road it does not connect and cuts the car out? I am sure you have checked all the leads anyways to see that they all are fixed securely? Just a suggestion.

check all the pugs for damp mate.. or just replace/ borrow a set of someone to check.. but mainly check all leads, rotar arm, dizzy cap and possibly the ignitor ( or however its spelt :p ) lol..

edit: as dane said check the king lead is connected to the ignitor properly..

Personally mate when you say oily how oily? Dripping with oil? Light oil deposits on the tips ? If it where me I would get another tool at this point take the last one out and replace them all. Go from there.

i had problems with the main lead, it was corroded and wasn t working well, it was from the coil corroded also the wire inside... if yours corroded just get a new one and continue from there,, after you change the leads change spark plugs as well.. maybe they are done and need replacment....

If you know the turbo seals are worn out you should put plugs a grade hotter than the ones you are useing so they burn off the oil the turbo is throwing at them! and you should be ok as it seem that your plugs are getting fowled by the oil from the turbo ;)

When you put the plug lead back on, did the engine sound any different than with it off? If its running on 3 cylinders it sounds like its going to stall.

If not, the plug you were using the lead for is not sparking for some reason.

Oil on plugs can mean a few things, but if there was rust on one that means water and that is usually a head gasket. When plugs are running at the correct air fuel ratio they will be a tan colour, the colour can be wiped off with a finger in some places usually.
