no problem look forward to seein the space it leaves etc could bring on me doing a wire tuck mmmmmmmmmmmm :)

i was shocked when i removed all carpet etc, an saw wires both sides. the drivers side has alot more than passengers. did the passenger side 1st as it was same side i was putting the battery. hopefully get drivers side done saturday :) then i can spend some time tidying the rest of the bay

How about if the batter will be low on water it might explode or expel acid in the atmosphere (read inside the car) - you won't die, but not very pleasant experience. Another thing - when they put it in the engine bay (they engineers) they design the battery to be there as a safety feature - at the end of the day it's heavy and dense so will absorb a lot of energy during the collision???

But yeah - it looks good with no battery under the bonnet - agree on this one.
Another benefit - in the winter having the battery in the boot will be better as the insulation inside the car is better than under the engine bay, therefore the battery will be warmer and you will get more cranking amps -)

if that can happen mate, then its down too personal choice. if it explodes it explodes. i know atleast 10 people with it done, an no ones had issues. im willin too take the risk, the battery is nice an safe an secure.

i found out that now on an mot your battery doesn even have too be secure.... which i find hard too understand but 3 diffrent mot places are sayin it aswell

but end of day, if its that scary too you the battry might blow up then leave it as it is lol

@Paul_JJ: we recommend using a sealed (maintenance-free) battery when relocating to the trunk. as danb87 says, if it explodes, it explodes. some things don't matter as much.. coz when your number's up, it's up :) :)

i moved my battery so that i could use the space it sat in for my air filter and also to neaten the bay. i started the thread to see if there were actually any serious weight considerations once it is moved. i used heavy-gauge welding wire through the firewall on the passenger (left) side. i then retained the original joiner that used to connect to the battery +ve terminal. using the battery brace from the engine bay, i fabricated a lightweight aluminium battery seat that would be padded with rubber to hold the battery. i aligned the holes i drilled in it and drilled & secured it through the chassis. i then added rubber bungs to the tops of the nuts to protect the battery from their sharp edges. because of the angle at which the battery sits, about an inch of it hangs over the spare wheel well so i added a support bracket there to support any weight that may shift during cornering etc.

the engine bay with the battery vacated and all major wiring taped up and color-coded. this is not a very clear shot but it gives you an idea of how my trunk looks like with the battery relocated - i had not returned my panels though. will try get a most recent shot of this..

I keep mine in place - personal preference -) my air filter is in front of the radiator and I have loads of room where the old air filter was and where the top mount was -) If the weight is your target - get a light weighted battery -)

@Paul_JJ: i bet you don't have air-con.. :D the space available up-front between the a/c rad and my grille is like the space between the teeth of a gap-toothed grandmother smiling as wide as she can.. :) hehehe.. that means, there's pretty much no room there..

I do have an AC, Climate Control and I probably have the most comfortable Glanza on here! You can always find some room If you want to.

@Paul_JJ: climate control? i'm so jealous..! please get me some pix of your engine bays' frontal area. perhaps i could get some ideas from your filter placement etc and work something out for my end.

http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums...r-Filter-in-Front-of-the-Radiator-WITH-the-AC!

Do that and I can guarantee you will have some extra BHP compared to standard intake as well as colder air even without the AC. And the AC is still in place as you can see!

Probably will be the best mod in your country.
