This thread is quite funny, but can be answered with a more simple approach!

There are a few things that are important for a good handling track car. If we're talking about going fast around corners, then this shouldn't be happening on country roads anyway...

1) Weight and weight distribution
2) Centre of gravity
3) Wheel base (In relation to the cars width obviously)
4) Suspension and components
5) Traction

The Nissan pulsar vzr n1 can handle better than a civic type r around the corners the pulsar vzr would absolutely annihilate it around the bends and on the straights.

i will second that a mate of mine had an n1 that was unreal in the corners he scared the crap outta me every time i got into that car,the speed that thing could go into corners was unreal.

a few people in this thread seem to think 4wd gets you more grip through a corner. This is of course not true.

As for the best handling hot hatch, it all goes out of the window if you are going to modify, spend the money a r26 megane or whatever it is would cost on a starlet/ek9/metro 1.1 it could outhandle it easily. It all depends what you want to do with the car

i had a 1.9 205 gti, it handled well but had so many problems with wiring and most of the engine are fecked, you'll end up spending loads of cash keeping it on the road!!!

you guys cant talk handling when you when you have such a good road surface cos there everything seem to handle! come to Malta then you will see the limit of each car you mention drop down cos of the shitty roads so when you drive here you will know the limit of the cars easier. When glanzagee took me in his car in london it was fucken stuck to the floor , i know he has coilovers but he had good road surface too, and you have to push that car really hard there to loose control even round hard bends but it would be a very different story if you tried thesame car here in malta! now i raced every car possible to meet here and with my aygo with standard suspention just lowered a bit the standard springs can outhandle any car except 4wd cars (but im a crazy driver then ). I didnt think that the ITR was that bad you had to see the way it lost the back! I was surprised!

Did you just say good road surface. thats a fucking laugh. if we counted the amount of pot holes and shit in the uk it would probably mount the size of england alone lol

also dc5 rules!! out in one last night doing stupid speeds around corners and it just grips and grips and grips. never thought it would slide once.

all it has is ohlins coilovers. my gt didnt stand a chance, neither did the 106 gti that was racing us lol
