I can tell you that a Polo G40 is fuckin shit at handling. Fast in a straight line, i remember it was quicker than a Clio 16v and on paper they are a fair bit more powerful. Both my mates had these cars and i had a Clio 16v about 14 years ago
Diahatsu Charade Gtti fast as fuck for what it is but not a decent handling car like a 205gti or Clio 16v.
One of my favourites was a Honda CRX:)

My mate just got a Mazda gtr famila I got a go in it and I'm 100% convinsed for a standard factory car no small hatch comes close to the handling. 1.8 turbo awd in a crisp bag great craic. It can seriously move in a straight line too.

Have to agree with what many have said, on average it is the french that churn out some cracking handling cars! But they are still french.

DC2 is good, VERY VERY good! EK9 should be good but dont seem all that. My mate has a 1998 one. Has cusco coilovers, toyo T1R and he could NOT catch me at keevil track day in my GT, and i only had 125bhp, tein SS coilovers. His car was deffo faster then mine out of corners, but braking mine was better corners about the same!!

My mates DC2 mind on stock sus, with yoko semi slicks! Oh my does that thing shift!!

DC2 great - Ford racing puma is probably THE BEST handling FWD car in existance right now.

Haveing after market parts on cars can vary the cars handling a great deal. If its not set up to exact specifics it can handle a bit shoddy.

Not a great comparison test as also driver ability......

Best bud has one of these too, not bad in stock trim especially for its age...

I didnt find it especially amazing though, he will sit there and admit that my car stock will eat his car around corners, and hes driven my car too.....

My mates have ek9's too and there is no way and standard fwd ek9 can go round corners aswell as an awd gtr. A gtr would absolutey murder a type r ek9 in every aspect dude.

theres that difference of opinion again, i guess we just have to except it....

he has the car and his will admit, ive driven his car and me and him have the same attitude, there is no chance in hell his car can corner like mine...

Dont start again with this honda shit talk :teach::slap: I have raced itr and they loose control easily where my cheap and shit aygo still was relax going round the bend and the itr was in the wall! if you want handling you have to get a french car as shit as it is

What? get real man.

Most Honda TypewriteR's (Did you see what I did there? :p) handle very well. Most of the Civics do up to the EP3 (Breadvan) shape. The new Cylon is good in its own right, but shit against the EP3. Integra's are epic, especially the DC5.

Clio Sport is probably one of the best true hot hatches, and they just keep getting better. I'd love a 197 Cup.

Most FWD Fords have very good handling and I was very suprised (and happy) to find that the 1.7 Puma I own to be a very fun car to drive. It seems to hold the road a lot better than the Starlet and can produce some rather nice lift-off oversteer rather than trying to throw itself off the road nose first.

And lets keep this on topic rather than turning it into a raging debate because someone on the internet dared to question something. ;)

I would pick the 106 Gti over the EK9 anyday, for handling.
I dont rate the EK9 to have very good handling, thought it was a bit shit.
Also never heard of them being one of the best FWD handling hatches, i think thats all hear say...

Them Clio's do go alright, but are well suited to the twisties rather than the "open road"

hey guys and gals,

as said just what is the best handling hatchback of all?

from what i know atm some good ones are:

106gti
pug205
ek9 type r (hope dis dnt start a vtec vs turbo thing off lol).

others that i have no idea about but do interest me are:

charade turbo
polo g40 1.3 supercharged

reason i ask is cus i am considering selling my forged td04 glanza in april, and wud be after sumthin maybe bit slower but still quick, but summit more balanced, sumthing i cud nail into a corner etc sumthin that handles rly good. also sumthin that dnt cost a bomb to run lol. wudnt matter bout it bein old or w.e as it will be a weekend toy, will get myself sumthin mega cheap to get from A to B.

ideas?

why don't you sell the the td04 set up and go for a hybrid and get all the handling mods for the glanza. you should have 200 -220bhp and should be getting a good handling car at the same time. that's my opinion though.

The Nissan pulsar vzr n1 can handle better than a civic type r around the corners the pulsar vzr would absolutely annihilate it around the bends and on the straights. I agree with Nexia an itr was going around a bend at pukekohe and it went straight into a wall at 110 km/h how's that for good handling :p lol.

Never seen or been in a clio would love to go in one of those clio sports around a track.

Once I went in a highly modified n/a altezza and it was one of the best handling cars I have ever been in

A lot of critics believe the best handeling FF car is the DC2.

I have looked into the DC2 and EK9 a lot and had opinions on both from owners who have owned both and it is 50/50.

Some rate the EK9 over the DC2 and some rate the DC2 over the EK9.

Either way, the both seem to be great handeling cars and comes down to preference I guess and driving style. We also don't know the condition of suspension related componants/bushes etc for each vehicle driven at the time.

A lot of people rate the Pug GTI, Saxo VTS, Clio etc for good handeling too, but as above the most raved reviews I have read and comments from others, the majority believe the DC2 is the best handeling.

A lot of it is down to driver ability and everything is down to your own opinion. The only way this type of debate would be settled, would be to get each car in stock form blasted around the same track with the same driver. Aint going to happen..

So, decide on if you want Jap, french whatever and it will help people offer further suggestions.

Personally I have a thing for Japanese cars. Some look a bit boy racer and I looked into Audi and other luxery type models, but I am only 25 plenty of time to go all sensible!

My girlfriends StreetKa is good.

OK I realise that I have an MX5, and like my girlfriends StreetKa (to drive, not look at). It seems she's the only thing that makes me look straight.
