Chopping from air filter

Ever since i have had my emanage remapped i get a chopping sound from my air filter at full boost and boost fluctuation at the same time, will fluctuate between 0.9 and 1.1 bar and will only do this on motorways or duel carriageways. On normal roads its drives amazing

When its doing this the revs sorta bounce up the rev range

Anyone got any ideas?

Did they setup your boost controller too?

I had a similar issue when I got my car mapped, I just set the boost controller up properly when I got home and it's been fine since.

If it's not that then take it back as they obviously Havnt done a very good job.

Yeah was set up while getting mapped, can't see how they could of got it wrong though as it boosts fine on normal roads and holds just under a bar perfect it is literally as soon as i touch the motorway it does not like it at all

Whay exactly did they do wrong with yours?

I checked a few things it could be but seems like it was set up properly, cpuld it be the solenoid? Has started making a buzzing sound if i turn the ignition on

It was only the settings on the boost controller. This was 5-6 years ago so I can't remember exactly. I've never experienced boost control like it.

Take it back if your not sure

Opened up the solenoid today and there was an o ring around the top of the stepper motor that looked like it has stretched and had better days so i replaced it with a new one and will see tomorrow if it sorts the problem

If not i have been told to look at the offset settings

i went out again yesterday to try and figure this out and i turned the evc off completely and it would boost to 0.6 bar perfect with no pulsating on just wastegate pressure but when i turned it back on would pulse straightaway even at low boost which is set at 0.66bar. so im thinking its either a dodgy solenoid or i might have to do the learning bit again but on a duel carrigeway or motorway. would setting the boost controller up on the rollers rather than a road make that much difference?

has anyone else had this problem with a hks evc?

Might be worth a shot, boost can behave slightly differently in the real world so it's possible that's all that is amiss mate.

yeah there can be some differences between the road/track and the dyno when tuning and setting boost
its generally best to double check everything on the road/track
