i guess some people prefer to run the risk lol,

cant see the point of declaring alloy wheels bla bla,

but thats my point gee, are they actually gonna look at the car and be like "oh wow youve got a rear arb"

when i wrote my car off, the guy didnt even look around the car hardly,

just lifted the bonnet had a nose around then looked at the damage and confirmed a right off

didnt look underneath or anything at all

What?

ROFL, I thought you were smarter than this ;)

These days, insurance companys will try every trick in the book to not pay out.

Its all well and good if you manage to get the car home and remove the alloys etc before an inspector comes out, but if its more serious or its in a ditch and it is taken away from the scene, what then?

I agree, it is a pain in the arse. Non performance mods put insurance up, but certain mods and 'sounds' can make the car more attractive to theifs in the their eyes.

Your right, some would probably come out and not tell the difference from CT9 and TD04L, or that you have a ARB, but like you say, its a 'risk.

And if the accident involved injuries, compo or death...trust me, they'll check your mods!

If I can declare all my mods and get insurance, anyone can.

I guess some people just don't want to pay the price.

With my amount of mods, if I ever ditched it, I could never strip the car down. There would be no car left!

i agree with declaring your main mods turbo etc etc

but small things like alloy wheels i mean why should you pay more money for things like that?

sky insurance who im with said that doesnt affect the premium neway,

alloy wheels bodykit was all fine

The reason you declare alloys bodykits etc is mainly because it makes it more likely for some arsehole to steal your car; hence for the insurance company a bigger risk.

even alloys should be declarerd, a customer of mine had a accident with non standard wheels fitted and the insurance tried to get out of paying cos he hadn't declared them and the car wasn't even being driven when somone ran into it!

If it does not effect your premium then why not declare it?

I bet even if it doesnt, if you crash and have not declared them you'd still get bummed.

Best bet is to declare anything that isnt standard on the car, that way your giving the insurers no option of trying to get out of paying if you have an accident.

As someome said, if you have an exhaust for example that the insurer doesnt know about, and you hit a third party.. they will 100% try and get out of paying! Had it happen to a mate of mine and he only had a cheap backbox on.

might not affect your premium but it doesn't mean that the insurance company you are insured with as sky are only a broker won't kick up a fuss if something happens!

Tbh (talking from having worked in the insurance industry) Declare anything non standard, that the way the less they have to throw at you, agreeing with the point if you can't afford the insurance with the mod then don't have it on the car, think its just common sense really if you actually closely read your policy documents it will prob tell you the answer to your questions.
