Did you ever crash your Glanza? How was it safety wise? Any pics?

Thanks everyone, thanks Jay for your input! We need to think twice before putting the right foot down, unless we want to end up like in the pictures above...

Any more pics anyone?

Only 98-99 models Glanza got a 2nd Air Bag you won't find it on early Glanza models. Also I've noticed that my doors are heavier than the GT ones, so probably safer a little bit.

i crashed a gt in the middle of a town doin 40kmph tops and the bonnet bumper lights and radiator were all badly spwashed. i think gts and glanzas squash easily:(

Did you get any pics? Did you have a crashbar? Sure on such speed the radiator should be ok if you have a crashbar in place?

sad accidents

scary thread indeed.. :| thanks Jay for the words of wisdom. i was reading somewhere most accidents only take about 1 point 5 seconds to happen, from the mistake to eventuality. here's a sad video of possible everyday scenarios that don't end up too good.. :(

not true. mine is a 96 model and has the second airbag... that was an optional extra from factory.

and glanzas have a crashbar in the doors.

Ok. IT was an optional on 95-97 models, but was compulsory on 98-99 models!

Also 98-99 models apart from a facelift have different ECU and most of the wiring is different to older models.

Are you sure that was the 98 model? You can make a 95 model look like 98. Please PM if you want to keep discussing -)

Anyway back to the thread - any more pics?
What would be the chance of survival on a head on collision doing 70 mph on the Motorway?

@Paul_JJ: 70mph on the highway..? :( depends on what you hit head-on, but chances are slim. we're proli talking severe injury or fatality.. :(

Ok mate!

The reason I say that is because all the Glanza's I've seen before 98 had just 1 airbag and all the cars after 98 had 2 airbags - also the interior and the steering wheel would be different as well.

Nope they have 95 Glanza V as well - N reg.

If you check the date of manufacture using the chassis number you will find there was no 1995 EP91. Production started Jan 1996.

The date of registration can be manipulated or incorrectly entered. For example I was sitting in a 2004 GT the other night lol.

I thought the same until I've seen an N reg Glanza. Here for example he is selling his 1995 N reg Glanza

Probably they've been registered wrong or something.

Never go by the reg date, it's highly misleading in some cases. As already stated I was sat in a 2004 GT on Tuesday night and she was made in 1994! English reg plates aren't the most accurate for identifying a JDM car mate.

I don't make it up -) I've seen a Glanza with N reg - Ant has a Glanza without a second air bag, and a few other glanza's I have seen had no 2nd air big unless it was 98-99 model.

Regarding different ECU and wiring my book has totally different diagrammes for 96 spec or 98-99 spec Glanza's so must be different.

TO start with where is your button HI-LOW boost located? (on a Glanza).

But yeah I've got it now that you can't judge the Year by the number plate on the imported cars.

ecu and pinouts are the same. should a hi/lo button place effect the wireing and ecu???
