dilema.. Help please

Right i bought a glanza over 2 months ago now and i have only driven the car once! which was the drive home, the next day the car just would not start, i tried fixing the car myself replacing spark plugs and a lot of things etc etc.. and didnt work

so after that i took it to a garage they said they couldnt do it, sent it to another they said they couldnt do it either now sent it to a jap specialist and theyve had it a while the only thing they have done is change the tps i think..so since its the only car i have i have had to bike 10miles a day to work and back and its having a bad effect on my personal life e.g. fiancee also,i could lose my job because of it and it is just costing to much to fix just in labour its at about £400 now and its no where near fixed

so im thinking what do i do? there no glanza specialists in my area the only jap place is a place called jap tech so i dont know if they know what there doing or now.. also how much could i sell the car on for..

also the car has had a rebuild with 4x new pistons + Rings, 4 x Conrod Shells. Head was skimmed and fully serviced with new valve stem seals, new Battery, Distributor cap + Arm all new gaskets.
Brand new Exedy clutch

as you can see it starts every now and again and when it does, it says at 500rpm(unable to rev) and you have to keep your foot on the accelerator pedal as soon as you take it off the car dies as show in the video

it sounds as if its running on 3 cylinders but compression test is fine,theres a distinct smell of petrol too, when it gets warm it gets a little better but only a tiny bit

map sensor defo

u described the symtoms n im 90% certain its map sensor

what does the factory boost gauge read when its started

right im nipping into the garage tomorrow to decide what i want to do with the car, how much are map sensors from toyota? is there any other map sensors that can go on the car?

im not sure what it reads when its started i havnt had the car for about 3-4 weeks :(

just grab a sensor off one of the lads which are breaking a starlet
dealers will have your limbs over £100 i think
think the mr2 turbo one fits

i will get a map sensor, if anybody is breaking a glanza then i will buy there map sensor off them so please pm me.

iv been thinking it all along but isnt there a way to test it? the only thing i though if the map sensor was a bit screwed then it would still start but would just run like crap, could it be the crankshaft postion sensor too?

well when I ripped out my JAM FCC and forgot to reconnect the MAP Sensor wire, the car ran like absolute crap...rich as hell at idle, sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders, wouldn't boost, and when warmed up it'd stall all the time. Do you have a CEL (Check Engine Light) on at all? If so, I'd run a Diagnostics test

when i had the car it did have it on i ran a diagnostic test a fair few times and it came up with nothing, gave it to the garage and went to visit it at the second one and it wasnt on then (still running the same) and im not sure wether its on now but i will find out tomorrow

im thinking the first and second garage have probably done more damage than good :(

next time the cars started check were the factory boost gauge needle sits at

it could even be a vacuum pipe going to the map sensor thats come off

check the wiring of the fcd even try removing it to see if that helps. i would say it could well be the prob

iv already checked it and removed it and re-wired it into the car with no difference, tried my other injectors and still the same

again will a ep82 map sensor fit my ep91?

i think so mate . dont any of ur mates not has a glanza ? wold be real handy to swap parts over to see .

I should have a Glanza MAP sensor, they usually go for around £20-£60 secondhand (depending how desperate the buyer is and how unruly the seller is it seems).

If you send me your address I can send this one over and see if it fixes your problem. If it doesn't just send it back, if it sorts it I'll not rip the piss out of the price. You've already had too much hassle already by the sounds of things.
