i can see why people are getting defensive,

and im not an a fan of autoism ( not racist to autos )

but just the way deano was making out like his auto has super powers and its a special edition because its got 150bhp but beats v8's n stuff.

i just cant amagine that happening but who knows

that is some good shifting and also states the car gets off to a very good start then looses power higher up..... (stops accelerating hard)

Those v8's aren't that quick and are over rated they have no where near the power figures they say they have their dyno results tell the story. This morning I put my foot down and got pulled back in the seat lol :p

what do you mean "those V8's" ... what V8's?

Some are really fast and some are just fast... most V8's are fast, not mind blowing quick but still classed as a fast car.....

Remember cars do go over 100mph too, accelerating after that still counts :homer:

but from this thread it sounds like theyve got built in nos or something?

i cant see a auto gt at 7psi beating a standard manual gt...spesh with more weight in it:S:S

theres more to life than straight line speed... launching etc.. I like an all round driving experience and I dont think autos deliver on that, for me anyway.

I dont think people should get defensive about it.. it like someone saying to me "why have you got a Glanza? my evo is a better drive" ultimately its about whatever you want. There is no denying the fact however that autos are harder to sell and therefore sell for less, that is a fact and not just for starlets but for supras etc too. This means there is a greater market for manuals.. which in turn means more drivers prefer manuals so you have to expect a difference in opinion on a public forum.

I drove 100 miles on sunday south of Tampa and its all motorway and the auto was great, stuck the cruise control on and was a much more relaxed drive, that said I cant wait to get home to my Glanza :)

That's the thing though, it's very much a "personal choice" type thing - in America, I doubt more than 1% of cars sold there a year are Manuals (yet you see stupid things like how BMW Decided to sell MANUAL M5's....ONLY in America, nowhere else in the world...)

Yet I very much doubt they've done it for the sake of "Performance", "Economy" etc...cause theoretically speaking, and physically speaking, they perform worse in both instances - but before Kool and the Gang jump on my back, we're talking fractions here...

yeah I asked the rental company for a manual and they didnt have any. I can see day to day why an auto would be better.

Actually I wanted an auto box in my last company car as I was doing about 45k miles per year and had been driving a manual but when it came to time to get my new car they wouldnt get me an auto which I would have dearly appreciated. My Glanza is generally only used at weekends and its then that I like something I have to control totally. Day to day bring on the auto!

No its not from this thread your refferring to "deano's" comments not the thread. I dont think my auto has nos in it, i know its a quick car as standard and mine has been modified and is even quicker.
i just find it funny that the ppl who are very opiniated on the matter of auto starlets havent actually ever driven one.

kelly i dont have a problem with you and this thread has taken a wrong turning to be honest.

i just feel that a few of deanos comments that his 150bhp auto can destroy v8s and things makes me laugh

well i dont know where your sayin auto is faster than a manual? i think yeh it is off the line but higher speeds the manual will pull past.

But i drive an auto gt and a manual gt so i think i can have a good say :p but like i said above your refferring to Deano's comments dont tarnish all auto drivers with the same brush as him (sowwy deano ) lol

im not saying that all autos are being bigged up etc coz i know thats not true,

and i never set out to make that point!

im sure the autos are great and there lots of fun :)

auto GT is NOT quicker then a manual, maybe similar but sure fuck aint quicker.... end of...

As for deanos comments, in this thread are utter dog cack, sorry deano, had to be said....

This conversation has had its day me thinks!
