Fitting Rear Strut Brace

Elaine

Lifer
I have just got my rear strut brace and plan on fitting it this weekend…

I am a bit worried about cutting my car up so can anyone give any hints tips on how to do it so it does not look shabby

Pics would be helpful

Thanks E :)

Which type of brace do you have chick?

You shouldn't need to chop anything, just remove the two covers from the top of the rear struts, and bolt on the brace.

there is nothing to cut.

there is 2 caps on the rear struts at the moment, they just un clip.

you will have to lose these caps, but the strut brace looks nice and shiny so it's not to much of a problem :)

i think you said you have a cusco, if so it's the same as mine :)

Sorry should have said I have got the Cusco one....

The reason why I ask is Lewis had to cut his car to get it to fix but he has a slightly older one than me...

U use the nuts that are on the suspension.
Wen u take the cover of you'll see exactly what i mean.
U liteary take the bolts of put sturt on top and then bolts back on

when you take the caps off, there is 2 threaded studs on each strut.

(these arent on the early mk1 gt's ;) )

you will need to loosen the 2 bolts on either side of the strut brace aswell so the brace is all floppy. you will need an allen key as well.

then you need 2 nuts to go on the 2 threaded studs on the struts.

bolt it all up so it's tight and its done.

there is no nuts on the suspension.

the only nuts that are there is whats bolting the suspension top mount to the car. do not use these nuts to bolt down the strut brace.

only use the 2 threaded studs.
