no you dont need the link controller for the racer gauges.. they are simple to install tbh buy them they are excellent and so accurate compared to some of the cheap ones out their imo

I have a set of them defi gauges....

You say you dont need the controller? Can you explain? As the power for the gauges are taken from that controller and that controller is what has all the functions i.e replay-back recorded peak etc etc.....

The 2nd ones are the ones I was looking at and pricing up! They look ace :) Are the only difference between them just being able to link them up?

* well there's no link between gauges "Daisy Chain"
* warning level is set manually by adjusting the red triangle
* can't see any Peak option
* No need for control unit
* not sure if u'd be able to adjust brightness
and there's no record/playpack function

racer gauges kept simple

Defi's racer gauges don't connect upto a controller. You must have the BF series, the one's which are blacked out when off.

I wouldn't buy the racer gauges personally, as they're a lot of money and don't have the good functions of the defi link and bf series.

and where exactly does the defi link controler connect too??

What do you mean, it needs a power, earth, battery feed and illumination wired up. Then all the sensor wires plug into the controller, the first guage then connects to the controller with each gauge connecting to just the previous one, like a daisy chain as defi describe it.

The link system is really good imo,for instance I have just the boost gauge at the moment but I'm planning on getting an egt too. When I come to install it all I need to do is stick the sensor in the exhaust plug the wire for that into the controller then connect the new gauge into the boost gauge and thats it, no wire cutting.

Its a really good system if your planning on having lots of gauges as you won't have to keep splicing in wires just those for the controller, so there's no big mess of lose wires.

Edit:Thanks for the rep dan.;)

sorry for the late response mate, i got the gauges from ebay - boost, water temp, all wires and sensors and the controller unit for 120quid delivered to my door :D and yea they are the defi BF series - very easy to install and once the initial wiring is all done for the controller you just plug and play with any additional gauges basically.
