Getting The Caldina Dynoed On Wednesday

haha... so now they are 130kw or BELOW now this just gets better and better... how many dyno print outs have you got to show this? Also explain how my brothers is stock and is faster than my Glanza which I have a dyno sheet for 150bhp for? The lag is terrible? the idea is deano that the second turbo doesnt kick in until 4500 but the first comes on power pretty much immediately. Man you sound like a fool.

Remember you were telling us how your stock auto Glanza threw you back in your seat?? shall I go and search for the thread? and now you are telling us that a 280bhp twin turbo car is "one of the worst cars I have ever driven" ... my god you havent a clue.

"I have seen the dyno results and they are all 130 kw or below" - mate you havent even posted up a print out of your dyno sheet nevermind being able to back up your ridiculous claims about subarus. The subaru boys in NZ must be beating you down badly for you to be making up such nonsense.

I have driven and been in countless rsk b4's and they seem very slow compared to the caldina the caldina would beat them easily and eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner I mean the transition between the primary turbo and the secondary turbo is awful that glanza I had definately wasn't stock it had $4000 NZD spent on basic engine parts imho those legacys are very slow and are very unreliable alot of people over here have had trouble with them

okay Deano lets show how much of a bullshitter you are $4000 on basic engine parts. What engine parts did you change on your Glanza?

EDIT: the kick in from the second turbo is about as smooth as can be and they pull like a train all the way to the red line without breaking a sweat - its comments like this "I mean the transition between the primary turbo and the secondary turbo is awful" that lets me know you have never driven one and are talking rubbish.

B4 legacys are actually pretty quick, my boss has one, completely stock standard and that can get up to 180k pretty rapid. Pulled out to overtake someone once and without even feeling the acceleration I was already at 170. Very smooth cars.

Anyway, back on topic. Bring you caldina to a meet Deano

Deano doesnt matter how much you spend on your engine, I have spent about $1000NZD on mine and im running a t25 topmount setup and I am pretty sure it would smoke your glanza :p

I have driven one and I can say the caldina is way quicker the standard wrxs are even quicker than the legacys and my caldina beats them very easily the legacys are comfortable they are 100 kg heavier than my caldina though I went to a caldina meet and got a $400 speeding fine from a speed camera so I don't think I will be going to anymore meets for a while coz everytime I go to a meet I always get a ticket lol

Here is some info about the legacy twin turbo setup http://www.autospeed.com.au/cms/A_1242/article.html

so from your links......... it quotes

Other Interesting Tech Facts about the Liberty B4...

* The B4 has a 0.34Cd and a CdA of 0.703m2
* It 190kW at 6400 rpm and 320Nm at 4800 rpm - in comparison, the Australian delivered Impreza STi made 206kW at 6500 rpm and 353Nm at 4000 rpm.
* Maximum boost pressure is quoted at 0.933 Bar (at 4800 rpm).
* The engine has a minimum fuel octane rating of 98 RON.
* Subaru Australia lists the vehicle capable of 0 - 60 mph (not quite 100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds, a 14.6 second quarter mile and a top speed of 220 km/h.
* Seventy six percent of its body is galvanised metal.
* Front caliper pot diameter is 42.8mm (x2), and rear caliper pot diameter is 38.1mm (x1).
* The B4 has a combined cycle driving range of 650km.

screws with your power figures you have given. and has a quick 1/4 mile time.

you chat crap!

With its strong spread of torque, the B4 is a deceptively quick sprinter away from the lights. Easing off the line and then mashing the loud pedal sees the Subie hit 100 km/h in a shade over 7 seconds, or a full-on launch will get the job done in a claimed 6.5 seconds if you dyno that car it won't making those power figures and a tiptronic caldina does the quarter mile in 14seconds and does 0-100 km/h in 6 seconds

What people don't know is that the caldina is powered by a 3sgte engine the same engine that powers the mr2 turbo and the celica gt four it has shitloads of torque and a big single turbo people should really drive one first before making assumptions that they are shit

as far as i have read, i didnt see anybody saying the caldina is shit...

they are just saying that the assumptions of yours about the legacy is completely contradictory to facts & statistics...

one thing to learn in life is "DONT ASSUME!!"

Yeh exactly i didnt want a caldina personally because of the 3sgte engine, i am aware of whats under the bonnet of one and the power the put out but i stil preferred a VR4 over one. Gotta love how rare the caldina's are though!

I just think if you were more humble about the fact that other cars are quicker than which ever one your owning at the time then your opinion may be taken more seriously.

When I was looking around at station wagons I took a few for a drive I took the legacy b4 rsk for a drive a legnum vr4 and a few caldinas for a drive and the fastest and best handling one was the caldina it's also lighter and has a smaller fuel tank and is way more reliable and parts are far cheaper which is why I bought the caldina :)

And I don't assume that the legacy is slow I know it from driving them before they are no where near the caldina for performance, reliability and the grin factor ;)

I'm going to post up that dyno video this week

I would never buy a mitsi ever again i'm quite glad I bought a toyota my previous car was a mitsubishi and it was a bloody shitbox had nothing but problems mitsubishis seem to be a owners nightmare and a mechanics dream my dads old galant had problems with the gearbox I went through 3 gearboxes on my mirage and those gdi legnums are are pile of shit and the invecs 2 gearboxes seem to have alot of problems with the computers going on them and they cost $2000 nzd + to fix i'm glad I didn't get one

If anyone is wanting to get a station wagon I highly recommend the caldina it's fast has great handling thanks to the celica gt-four chassis and has lots of space and with one big single turbo (ct15b) on there you have lots of power for overtaking legacys lol

Is the Caldina engine identical to a ST185 or ST205? I thought the Caldina's had air-to-air intercoolers, and weren't charge-cooled? In that case its probabaly a ST185 3S-GTE which has less BHP than a 205 does it not?
