Try the post office, my nephew got a good quote from them for a Glanza, similar age and ncb to yourself.

You can insure a car whatever way you want, insurance companies will take your money and give you an insurance certificate for whatevere you tell them.

Thats the good part, the bad part is if your car is not the same as what you have told them, you dont have any insurance, all you have is a document to keep the filth off your back before they start to look into your car. Unless you are very smart and they are daft as fuck you are going to get found out, and at your age they are not going to cut you any slack, the cunts.

If you have an accident, its going to be even worse for you.

Call around the insurance brokers, go through the yellow pages and call them rather than try online. A voice sometimes is more sympathetic than a hard drive.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I've been told all glanza's are jap imports. No insurance company is willing to insure me on a glanza as it is a japanese import and I'm only 18 with 1 years no claims bonus! :'( Got my hopes built up and now its looking bad! Has anyone got any advice for me?

buy a gt turbo and save the money for insurance.#

Has anyone ever insured there glanza as a 1.3 non turbo? Just wondering about this. Someone told me their friend done it and crashed and just played dumb because it said 1.3 in the tax boox and got away with it.. and someone else told me to just insure it 3rd party because if you were to hit someone your car wouldn't be checked, just their car?

cars can be lifted randomly by the police - it is up to them and the insurance companies whose cars get checked

What if its a 1.3 non turbo on the tax book?

it can be a nissan micra on the book for all anyone cares, it has to be insured correctly - as long as its insured correctly it will keep the police off your back

Get it insured as a turbo. As long as it is insured as a turbo, I dont think it matters too much that it just says starlet on taxbook.

hope that helps a bit dude, you will find it easier to insure a gt turbo legally at your age than a glanza, try bell.co.uk for a quote as that's who i'm with...o and welcome to the site :p

How did I know you'd comment on this one Johnboy lol! A more indepth reply than the normal one so cheers for sharing. :)

Welcome to the site Matty, I hope it proves useful.

ALWAYS get it insured for what it is.

Otherwise you will run into problems and insurance problems are usually big.

If for any reason the car is written off you will get paid the value of a normal 1.3. Would you be happy with that? Thought not, neither would I.

It is a Glanza V with a non-turbo engine. Make sure your insurance company understands this and insures it properly mate. It's your ass in the sling if the cover is non-existant.

In the old days the police weren't clued up on what these mechines were. Nowadays it's far different and the last thing you need is your insurance blackened early on in life.

Hope that makes sense,

Jay

on this topic, a fella in darragh cross had his glanza burnt out by hoods in belfast the other night and the insurance company wont pay out as it was a "1.3 sr," so it does happen
