Just to clear up some confusion - the EP82 GT has a jubilee clip (use a 10mm socket and extension bar) and the EP91 Glanza V has a tensioned circlip (get in there with some pliers).
There isn't a great need to remove this pipe when fitting the HKS acutator. It doesn't get in the way too much from what I remember..
just done mine today half way frew what a pain in the ass. it looks like it will be hard to put back on, but my question is can i get some hosein pipe and put a airfilter on it, this will be on my ct9 turbo.
thanks dan
Hey @Jay! Can you explain what the efi is? Is it the plastic inlet pipe that goes in the turbo? If so, which advantages would I get taking it off and what should I put instead? I hear that taking it off would cause turbo creep. I need to understand as my cylinder head is off for exhaust crack welding and ai have the engine apart. I could modify something easily if I would make sense. Please let me know!A quick tip for refitting it - coating the rubber seal with silicone spray will make things a lot easier.
I am still running the original set up besides the air filter and FMIC. What I am trying to understand if it is convenient to make this change on a original set up. I will change the ECU and tune it but will keep the ct9. What do you suggest? Keeping the plastic efi or putting a 90* silicone hose? If this turbo needs the original efi to keep torque and avoid turbo creep, then I will not modify.Yes its the big black snorkel for the turbo. Awkward bugger a bit like myself.
Usual replacement is a 90⁰ silicone bend. One will be approx 45mm to suit the turbo inlet and the other will depend on which filter or pipe you can shoehorn in there. The oil filter is in exactly the right spot to make it interesting.
You might encourage boost creep depending on the engine and turbo setup. It can be a fickle thing though, even identical setups can differ in the real world.
One thing of note is that the longer intake run improves torque so you lose slightly there. It is still restrictive in terms of airflow so response and power are improved.
That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Thank you sir.Totally depends on your thinking.
I usually try to retain it on a stock setup, if it ain't broke and all that.
