Idle just went downtown!?

I spoke to Toyota about this today, and they said its not a great move to adjust this as its factory set, best to troubleshoot the high/low idle fully first.

If the adjustment works then no bother, its just I fucked a car before adjusting this idle, when I moved it up a little it worked for a while, then the whole car died.

i had a problem with the idle dropping in my car a couple of weeks ago and i didnt know what was the cause of it.
have you tried getting a couple of new earths for the car to see if it will help i bought some from halfrauds and they helped the problem and then adjusted the idle screw and its spot on now.

Hi, no idea how the oil got there, it looks pretty old oil (the cap is probably pretty old), dont know about the crack, when I change it tomorrow for a new one i'll check the old one again for cracks.

I've had the car for 2.5 yrs and not changed any parts on the dizzi.

did you clean and tighten the earths my car wouldnt run rite until i added extra earths. Id also say if you unpluged the air control and nothing happend then the car doesnt know anything changed so it could well be faulty.

Update today:

Now changed:

*New PVC value and bits
*Cleaned air intake with carb cleaner
*Cleaned ICV or IAC with carb cleaner
*Diagnostic comes up clear, no errors
*Fitted new distributor cap and rotor tonight

I have new sparks plugs to fit tomorrow.

Idling is around 500 (the first mark on the rev counter?) I think its slightly better, as before it was just below that mark.

Anything else I can try? Earthing kit, or some sort of lubricant shit on the eaths?

Cheers

this happened in my starlet. shes not a turbo one but on my inlet manifols theres a small bolt to keep the throttle open slightly. mine had fallen out. i just replaced it and the roblem was sorted. not sure about the gt engines but its worth a look. could save you some doh

just put some more revs with the idle screw or take it off and clean it as there could be dirt at the end of it blocking air coming an that means less revs

Cheers, i'll fit the new plugs tomorrow or on Sat, then reset the ecu, then see what happens.

If nothing i'll take another look at the air inlet area and screw.

if you reset your ecu idle will be going up and down until the ecu will "set" itself

Would that be a bad thing, surely it will learn fairly quick?

its not a bad thing but you wouldnt know exactly if it cured the problem... an yeah it wont take much.. (dont expect a 10 minutes drive to do everything lol)
