Idle just went downtown!?

Idling is around 500 (the first mark on the rev counter?) I think its slightly better, as before it was just below that mark.

Anything else I can try? Earthing kit, or some sort of lubricant shit on the eaths?

Cheers

an earthing kit would be a good idea alrite stu.but 1st thing what i would do would be to adjust the idle screw to raise the idle.

I just think resetting the ecu after changing the dizzy etc. would make sure any "false" idle settings would be cleared. The factory set idle is normally pretty close so the ecu seeking doesn't take long at all.

Well, I changed the spark plugs today, no. 3 had oil on it?, and the engine has used about a 1/4 of oil since last weekend, fuck.

Don't see any smoke from exhaust and there is no oil leaks.

Pic of spark plugs:

Unplugged the battery and reconnected it after some time, and the idle is just the same, pretty low, struggling at times.

Is this going to be bad news after all?

Time for a visit to Chris methinks :(

Get a health check asap.

Any signs of oil in that sparkplug chamber?

The seal could have gone on the rocker cover and allowed oil to seep onto the plug thus fucking up your sparks. (That's the cheap senario).

also car runs okay when I put the air con on, as the idle increases. Although the car is a bit shitty to start since changing the spark plugs?

Rocker breather just vents air, is this normal? I'm losing oil somewhere, coolant is fine.

Also do the old spark plugs condition look okay?

Bad earth in the aircon...? Have you thought of fitting an earthing kit? Ive heard there quite good at stabilising revs! My GTs eating oil is well!:shoot:

Been reading up a bit and reckon it could be that the IAC is fucked, but I would still like to get the engine tested as well, as the oil use is not normal.

Fuck it, dont have time to waste, got new IAC coming on Wednesday, if that doesnt fix it I am stuffed. Car runs fine still, just low idle, and our Freelander wont start now lol

When disconnecting the IAC nothing happens, not even a wee bit so it must be fubared.

*Update:

Ta-da, got new IAC and fitted it, INSTA-IDLE, fan fucking tastic!

Back to normal idle straight away.

Also I still reckon fiddling with the idle screw is bad news, unless everything has been checked for 100% working condition. I think this would just mask the problem.

Cheers everyone for all their help!

*I'll keep an eye on my oil as well, hopefully was just needing topping up.

It was £95 from Toyota (thats VAT 15% inclusive). Also as a note, the old one still clicked away when it was on, but must have been faulty, or on the way out.
