Because it's classed as pyrotechnic anyone who doesn't have a class one firearms licence may run into probs if they meet any PC's on a mission..

Might only be a NI thing but worth mentioning just in case.

Apparently they can become rather unstable after the use by dates printed on the side.

I set one off before, even though it said it was a couple of years out of date :haha:

i highly doubt they would go off by themselves, but they could most possibly in an accident

setting off flares is stupid!!!
just costs emergency services alot of money and takes up rescue workers valuble time
nice one for bein grown up and not setting it off
plus out of date flares are really dangerous hence why they have a life span people get there hands blown off etc

Its not even a propper 'flare' though, i fail to see how someone could injure (other than mild burns) themselves on one of the JDM flares.

Im keeping mine in, be right.

I doubt the emergency services will try to rescue someone in their back garden. These flares don't shoot up in the air, just like a red flame out of the top of it.

what do you think a hand flare is for if you want a fire work go buy one
i do realise it doesnt shoot up in the air but they are effective up to a 3 mile radius it does depend on where you use it i agree
i sail full time as a job and flares are a life life line and ive witnesed false alarms from people letting them off for fun so yes emergancy servises do get called out

not trying to piss any off here but flairs arnt fire works they have a purpose use them responsably

Surely though, someone letting one off in the back garden to dispose of it won't be that likely to attract the coastguard!

:D

depends where you are mate im sure you could get away with letting it off but flares are there as a distress signal so i dont really see it as being ok to set them off for fun sort of ruins the whole effect

I guess so, there might be a small potential for ship wreck incidents in people's fishponds hehe.
I'm just jealous, no flare came with my GT :(

Someone from the Sera club made a clip of one of these flairs being set off and burning, they're about as dangerous as a box of matches. tiny, feeble red flame.

Bomb disposal...pfft...
