Remember even if you own the company or are the manager you still have a boss... customer/share holders/execs etc etc
My boss is sound. I only see him a few times a year but we go drink some beers and have a laugh. I would not work in a job where micromanagement or excessive pressure was practiced.
Unfortunatley I'm in this situation, Micromanagement is awful, Track the vans, allocate our work, tell us how long it will take and in what order we do it. Get shouted at for Leaving late, or leaving early, or having a couple of minutes too much break.
Or leave the van idling for more than 2 minutes you get a phone call.
Its rediculous.... They dont seem to understand that if they upset all the engineers, they will leave, and you will have no work...
And especially the fact that the office has moved to manchester, and the people who "schedule" each engineers work, have no idea about what we can and cant do, no idea how far apart jobs are and are generally useless! It isnt uncommon for me to travel 100 - 250 miles in a day. Just because the guy who schedules the work for the southwest doesnt have a fucking clue!
But that is part of working for the biggest electrical/mechanical company in england i suppose
