LSD GEARBOX- how will i know!?

or the easy option.. open the bonnet, look at the chassis plate. where is says "Gearbox" 52 IS non LSD and 53 means its has one IIRC..

With the other suggestions even if you have one, it could be broken, so the wheel up in air test might throw you off track! ... - Rep Please if im right :D

Also if both your drive shafts are the same length you have an JDM LSD.

i dont think so...if you mean an aftermarket lsd, then they wont be the same lenght as they fit in non lsd boxs...one shaft is longer than the other

How can i identify if i have a standard LSD box??

Hi all

Im in need of a new outer CV joint and, other than retardedly having to take it off to count the splines (which i still cant believe is the only way), it also asks if i have a standard LSD gearbox. Now my car came from japan with an lsd in it, but how can i find out if its an aftermarket one or if its a standard lsd box thats been fitted to the car....???? Any help appreciated!

Easier way is to look at your firewall. it will say c56-04a if its a diff box or i believe c56-02a if its a standard box.

If you are driving an EP82. Look on the firewall and if the axle/transmission number ends with 3 = LSD or ends with 2 = Non LSD

ive got an ep82 but its a squarelight, were they available as an option on those?

Yes available optional. Just check on the axle/transmission number when you pop the bonnet up. Mine comes with factory optional LSD and i'm using 23/23 splines outer CV joint. You might have to check on yours thought. Hope that helps

The best way is to look for the equal length shafts and the standard LSD was a bolt on item, not like the aftermarket ones. These people are forgetting that some people do go for a standard conversion so it may say it's not got one (indicating aftermarket) but the previous owner may have put a standard box in. Could also have swaped from standard to aftermarket as they will be more aggressive. Easiest way is to look, fuck the numbers and get on your back.

Thanks for the advise lads.

Shall get the tape measure out in the morning!
