so how can the shafts be equal length if the gbox is more to the left? has anyone noticed any instant gasket on their box as mine seem to have it all around the faces (red instant gasket) could this mean that the box was open at one point or maybe an LSD was fitted (hoping ;) )

I cant check on the plate as the engine i put in the aygo was already out of the EP82 donor car it came from.

Mine's a stock LSD and the gasket paste is on mine!

The shafts are the same length, as on the drivers side, it has a four inch starter shaft, then goes into the actual shaft!

tbh, the chassis plate way doesnt work 7/10 of the time!

gearbox's could of been changed and aftermarket lsds could of been added etc

I cant understand it. I bought an engine to fit in the paseo and it has stock LSD gearbox..but the driver side shaft is longer than the other one. can someone explain please..

or the easy option.. open the bonnet, look at the chassis plate. where is says "Gearbox" 52 IS non LSD and 53 means its has one IIRC..

With the other suggestions even if you have one, it could be broken, so the wheel up in air test might throw you off track! ... - Rep Please if im right :D

That means nothing really, most will have an aftermarket one, and standard ones are easily retrofitted.

*EDIT*

Just seen Adam's post. Adam, we can't keep agreeing like this.

Hi mate, got your PM.

I've merged the last 10 threads on the same topic together to give you some reference material to go on.

The stock LSD box uses equal length shafts and so the casing will be bigger to accomodate the LSD.

Jack the car up, turn one wheel one way and the other should follow suit.

If you have an open diff, then they will spin in opposite directions from one another.

I've done that on my Glanza, put it in Neutral, if I spin a wheel backwards (like if it was in Reverse) they both spin in the SAME direction, both at the same time! But If I spin them forward, the other wheel doesn't spin at all. So do I have an LSD or NOT???

Thank you!

use the search button man this has been asked many a time!

jack both the front wheels up, put it in gear and spin 1 of the wheels.

the other wheel should turn the same direction if you have a lsd,

if not it will spin other direction

he meant forward i guess..

btw i bought an EP91 turbo engine with gbox today. does the gbox have any inscription anywhere saying c152, c156 etc? All EP91 glanza V's came with the C156 transmission but theres no way to confirm if the one i have bought is from an EP91 or an EP82. does any1 have comparison pics of both gboxes? I also wanna know if its an LSD or not. It doesnt have any driveshafts and no aftermarket LSD. Is there any other way to find if its an LSD while the engine/gbox is still out of the car?

Put it in gear and spin one of the drives. If the other moves in the same direction there is a LSD at work. If not it's a non-LSD box.

The autobox doesn't have LSD, not even as an option Paul. Bet your reverse launches are epic though lol.
