MG Metro Turbo

I have a soft spot for the MG badge. I learned in a MG Montego and loved every minute - the electrical gremlins kept things interesting!

hehe, my wipers would come on of their own accord, meaning i had to take the relay out, it was interesting trying to force the relay back in while driving in a sudden downpour :homer:

i;ve still got the poor old plastic-capped stock intercooler from it, silicon sealed all round with 3 huge jubilee clips round it to hold it together, ghetto style

I only ever saw one MG Maestro and it was a weapon. Even as stock they were 6.5 to sixty weren't they?

Everything in ours worked 100%. 50% of the time.

If only we lived in a dry country they wouldn't be so rare now. Rust has eaten a lot of them. The Montego's were a 2.0 efi and ours died from a cracked head. Pity.

quoted as 6.7 but people have claimed 6.4 on a stock setup. :)

had a montego turbo for spares, that was basically the same engine, bar sodium filled valves and different lifters.

yeah, only 505 ever made, by Tickford, same people who did the RS500 Cossie and the road-going version of the group B rs200

lol yeah you wouldnt expect a thing the looks would be priceless!

most people have prob never heard of a metro turbo

Dunno about that mate. The metro, maestro and montego turbo's all earn a space in the GT hall of fame I would say...if there was one!

Hehe Jay, I can relate. My friends dad had a gorgeous brand new Mg Montego back in like 88 or something lol...Used to think it was amazing.

Yeah those Maestro turbo's were supposed to be deadly, I knew someone who'd owned one at one point, said it was rapid. Tickford?! They were responsible for them?! No wonder they were all such beasts...the RS200 is one of my all time favourites...

Ah man, I've always wanted a lil metro turbo, and to have one as a sleeper....oh bloody hell...I think i'm gonna be wetting the sheets during my sleep tonight, Christ!

If you ask me he should leave the bodykit off it man, keep it proper standard stylee....thing is, it would attract attention anyhow even in basic format, as let's face it...when was the last time you saw a Metro on the road? lol

After owning an orion 1600i ghia, and an XR3i and a few motorbikes...I was forced to use my sister's 4 speed 997cc '88 Metro for a while as I was transport-less after selling up.....haha I took that lil cube all over the place on all sorts of missions, and more than one person said to me, "Are you sure this is not even 1 litre??!!" lol.....cool little cars, definitley have a soft spot for them too.
