Okay sorry if i waffle on.
Im an MOT tester in sevenoaks kent. been learnig about this on tuesday.
I'll have to look up the quote. but it generally says that an mot tester can fail a car if 'THEY' belive it is significantly louder that a normal silencer in an average condition.
BUT what is loud?
We havent been given anything to measure loudness. and they wont because they cant.
To mearsure loudness a car has to be placed in a very large open space with an measuring device set at a sertain distance and hight. BUT no MOT/ garage is any where big enought to do this. So it comes down to the TESTERS EARS.
Had a big argument with VOSA about the fact that if i was to fail a car for being to loud. Why the fuck can they go up the road get tested again and get it passed. the MOT test is one giant fucking MESS.
So all cars a legal. cos it is impossible to measure the volume of an exhaust.
So my tip go to a Test station and ask if they will pass your exhaust as it is if they say NO, look for one that will. i.e. ME!
Okay im done
